Last year, trap metal progenitors DROPOUT KINGS dropped Yokai, the final record featuring enigmatic frontman Adam Ramey following his untimely passing. After bringing together a career spanning lineup of Kings current and past, the band took this celebration of Ramey’s life on the road to share with fans as everyone tried to heal from the shock. Lauded by fans and critics alike, with Nu Metal Agenda stating that “the name Dropout Kings should be on more people’s lips, no matter what the band’s next move may be”, Yokai proved to be a unifying force to a hurting community.
Today, the band releases an official music video for the track “Brace Yourself”. A mixture of concert, home, and performance footage, the video tries to encapsulate all the wonderful aspects of Ramey’s life as a member of the band, a member of a family, and a loving human being.

Helsinki-based BRYMIR make a strong case for melodic death metal with What We Leave Behind, coming October 2, 2026 via Napalm Records! In a darkening world full of existential dread, the Finnish band—singer Viktor Storm Gullichsen, guitarist Joona Björkroth, bassist Jarkko Niemi, and drummer Patrik Fält—takes a stand with their most sinister album yet. Again heavily influenced by their singer’s main job as a movie sound designer, BRYMIR create vast cinematic soundscapes around their sometimes bleak, sometimes hopeful, but always honest messages.

“There are defining moments in our lives when we need to choose if we keep walking along the same trajectory or take a leap into the unknown. These choices, sometimes life-changing, often need to be made in an eyeblink, and the consequences can only be cherished or despised when viewed in retrospect. This is a song about our regrets—may these haunting melodies help you reflect on yours and hopefully show some solace in the beauty of the journey.
For this music video, we wanted to boldly go into the sci-fi aesthetic we’ve been hinting at for a while now. It may seem drastic to some of our fans, but the undercurrents have definitely been there for a long while already, and this video and lead single we feel is the final ripping off of the proverbial band-aid. We’re bending and breaking our boundaries and definitely any preconceptions of BRYMIR as just a ‘folk metal’ band. Thematically and musically, the title track, of course, is the summation of the whole of the very diverse upcoming album, stretching through epochs of time and the very core existential drive of humanity. What do we leave behind? What is the legacy we wish to leave for those who come after? Or is our obsession over legacy the poison pill for our present? Our blindness to make the progress that truly matters in the end, so very near us... We boldly engage the warp-drives, but maybe we leave the truly important things back home after all.”

“Northstar” is a very special song to me. The melody came to me in a dream, and when I woke up, I immediately recorded it. I soon realized that I had never written anything quite like it before – it really felt like something magical coming from a dreamworld.
The song has the wondrous atmosphere of a magical Disney movie, and I think you can feel that all the way through. It takes you on a little journey, with a bright light waiting beyond the darkness. “I composed this song just a few weeks after we had recruited our new vocalist. From the very beginning, it carried an exceptionally dark and haunting atmosphere, and I wanted to preserve that exact feeling throughout the entire process. For the first time in my career, I decided to introduce growling vocals into the arrangement. It felt completely natural in this song, and I knew Nicole could deliver it with the right intensity and emotion. It had been a long time since I last recorded a guitar solo myself, and stepping back into that role made the experience even more personal. This track captures a darker and more haunting side of our new era.”

“The song ‘Moon’ is about finding hope, tranquility, and inner peace in a world filled with destruction, greed, and suffering.
