DEMONESSA have announced Taste Of Blood, a Halloween release scheduled for October 31 comprising two new songs and a bonus track. The Finnish heavy metal band will accompany the release with a title-track music video inspired by older horror films, according to the announcement supplied by Tarja Virmakari Press Office.

The planned video combines footage of the band performing in dark woods with a vampire storyline. After attacking a victim in the forest, the central character becomes absorbed in the killing and fails to notice sunrise until it is too late. Guitarist John Creweholm wrote the story and handled the main directing and editing duties. Vocalist S3nsku filmed actors Fiona Fyhr and Sakari Mattila.

The two new songs were written around the same time as DEMONESSA’s debut album, Wild ‘N’ Loud, but were left off that record. The announcement connects their shared darker themes to the decision to present them together as a separate Halloween release.

The bonus track is a shortened version of “Till Death Do Us Part,” the opening song on Wild ‘N’ Loud. This edit removes the original’s minute-long acoustic introduction.

Creweholm wrote the main parts of the new songs, with ideas and contributions from the other members. S3nsku supplied the lyrics and vocal melodies. The recordings feature drummer Jerry Iron, who joined following Jones Tervas’ departure. The sessions also involved new drums, microphones and a new recording space.

Aleksis Pelli mixed and mastered the material at Mix Studio 1101, returning after working on the debut album. S3nsku painted the release artwork, while the accompanying band photograph is credited to Kalle Salo.

Formed in 2019 in Tampere, Finland, DEMONESSA describe their approach through 1980s heavy metal and glam metal influences. The announced lineup consists of S3nsku on vocals, John Creweholm and Hugo M. Raze on guitars, Peet von Rowanskerry on bass and Jerry Iron on drums.
