DREAMER have introduced their debut album Autogenesis with a video for its first single, ‘Regress.’ The extreme progressive metal band premiered the video through Heavy Blog is Heavy. Beyond the Top Records has announced the nine-track album for December 11 in digital, CD and two vinyl variant editions.

In the announcement supplied by ClawHammer PR, DREAMER describe ‘Regress’ as a representation of the different sides of the album. Their account emphasizes the relationship between its melodic passages, technical sections and quieter material, rather than presenting those elements as separate approaches.

‘Epic melodic sections, huge emotional atmosphere, ripping fast technical moments, progressive tendencies, and a subdued clean break,’ the band says. ‘It’s both structured and linear, evolving and morphing while always referencing back to itself. It blends both the extreme and progressive aspects of the band’s sound while never sacrificing either.’

Autogenesis follows the project’s instrumental demo from 2021. Guitarist, composer and producer Christopher Beattie started DREAMER and self-released its original demos in 2020 and 2021 before the lineup developed into a full band. The announcement places the group’s extreme progressive metal approach in the tradition of Between the Buried and Me, Rivers of Nihil, Opeth and Ne Obliviscaris, describing a combination of technical playing, aggression and melody.

Drummer Josef Hossain-Kay, guitarist Zachary Rivizzigno and bassist Ricky Alvarado joined the project, followed later by vocalist Kyle Chapman, whose other bands include Blighted Eye and Aethereus. The supplied lineup lists Chapman on vocals, Hossain-Kay on drums, Beattie on guitars and keyboards, Ricky Alvarado-Cabrera on bass and Rivizzigno on guitars.

Beattie also joined The Zenith Passage in 2022. The announcement notes his international live performances with that band and songwriting contributions to its Metal Blade Records release Datalysium. Work on DREAMER’s debut album continued during that period.

Preorders for Autogenesis are offered through Beyond the Top Records and DREAMER’s Bandcamp album page. The announcement specifies December 11 without supplying a release year.
