ELECTRIC VALLEY – Gata Introduces a Space Mission Gone Wrong Ahead of Echo

unconfirmed

ELECTRIC VALLEY have presented “Gata,” the newest single from their forthcoming album Echo, with a video premiere at Decibel Magazine. The Madrid-based stoner-doom trio will release the seven-track full-length on November 6 through Small Stone Recordings.

Bassist and vocalist Miky Simón describes the song as a space voyage whose two central characters face a fatal interruption. “‘Gata’ narrates a space mission that ends in catastrophe. Two humans destined to spend eternity together see their destiny truncated in a space odyssey that breaks their ties and ends their mission in an unexpected and tragic way,” he explains.

Simón connects that narrative to the arrangement: “A psychedelic beginning with kraut rock vibes and space rock atmospheres grows until it explodes with the perfect storm of heavy riffs to narrate a crushing ending.” In its premiere coverage, quoted in the Earsplit PR announcement, Decibel describes astronauts unconscious in pods aboard a ship that encounters an asteroid field. Its account follows the music’s transition from an airy opening into heavy, fuzzed-out riffs as the damaged vessel heads toward destruction.

That science-fiction setting extends across Echo. The announcement describes seven songs about space adventures and galactic journeys, drawing inspiration from classic science-fiction fantasies, B-movies and old comics. Musically, it places the record’s grunge-tinged stoner rock alongside psychedelic, progressive, atmospheric and tribal passages.

The album was recorded live in a single studio take by Javier Ortiz at Estudio Brazil in Madrid. Drummer Charlie Sánchez handled the mix, and Chris Gossman mastered the recording at Baseline Audio Labs in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

“Gata” opens Echo, followed by “Strange Land,” “The Colony,” “The Asteroid,” “Oceano,” “Ancient Monolith” and the title track. “Strange Land” previously received its own video; the current announcement introduces “Gata” as the newest single.

ELECTRIC VALLEY formed in 2014 around guitarist Mario García, Sánchez on drums and Simón on bass and vocals. Their earlier releases include the 51973 EP (2014), Multiverse (2015), Two Realities At War (2017), Tapes From The Galactic Tavern (2021) and Live At Stone Giant (2024). The supplied band history also records shared stages with Yawning Man, Green Leaf, Dead Meadow, Sasquatch, Asteroid, Stoned Jesus and The Machine.

Echo will be available on CD and digitally, with limited-edition vinyl issued in conjunction with Kozmik Artifactz and pressed in Germany. Preorders are available through Small Stone’s Bandcamp release page. The announcement’s band photograph is credited to Eduardo Torres.
