FORBIDDEN have introduced a visualizer for their new single, "Single Point Failure," the opening track on their self-titled album through BLKIIBLK. The announcement identifies the record as the band’s first full-length since 2010, with production by Craig Locicero, Chris Kontos and Zach Ohren.
In the statement supplied by Freeman Promotions, guitarist Craig Locicero describes the song through the contributions of the current lineup: Norman Skinner on vocals, Matt Camacho on bass, Kontos on drums, and Locicero and Jeremy Von Epp on guitars. He singles out Skinner’s vocal urgency, Camacho and Kontos’ speed and precision, and the two guitarists’ solos.
Locicero connects the arrangement to an earlier period of the band’s writing: "Musically, it hits more like the 'Twisted Into Form' era with the syncopated, melodic riffs intertwining while the instruments are tuned to standard E, like the first 2 albums were." Those musical references accompany a lyrical scenario centered on an electromagnetic pulse, or EMP.
In Locicero’s account of the song’s premise, solar activity disables electronics and disrupts a society dependent on communications and technology-controlled resources. His description imagines prolonged outages, social unrest and failures of nuclear-plant cooling systems. These are the disaster conditions he outlines as the track’s subject. He describes the resulting song as feeling "frantic and befitting of the subject matter while being a fun and turbulent ride."
The self-titled album contains 11 tracks and runs for more than an hour, according to the announcement. Its sequence extends from "Single Point Failure" to the nine-minute closer, "Flower of Life (Chaos By Design)." Locicero also confirms that Mastodon’s Brann Dailor joins the band on "Sycophantasy," without specifying his contribution.
Discussing the recording, Locicero says: "We set out to create a record that reminds people why they fell in love with thrash and heavy metal in the first place, embracing raw energy, melody, and the imperfections that give heavy music its character." He adds that every member brought their best to the sessions.
The press announcement gives conflicting information about album availability: its preheader says the record is set for release "This Friday," while other passages call it upcoming and describe it as "Out Now." The supplied evidence does not resolve that discrepancy, so the album’s availability remains unconfirmed.
FORBIDDEN returned in 2023 following a hiatus that began in 2012. The supplied background identifies "Divided By Zero," released in 2025, as their first new song in 15 years. That track also appears on the self-titled album. Earlier releases include Twisted Into Form (1990), Distortion (1994), Green (1997) and Omega Wave (2010).
The announced album sequence is:
- Single Point Failure
- Burning The Lungs of Earth
- Divided By Zero
- DCLXVI
- Psyclops
- Jisei
- Mutually Assured Dysfunction
- Sycophantasy
