GWAR’s performance from The Last Drive-In’s 2025 Halloween special forms Side A of GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein, a collaborative album with Joe Bob Briggs. Due November 13, 2026, on vinyl through Pit Records, the release pairs that live set with music from the show’s house band, John Brennan and the Bigfeet.
The GWAR set includes originals alongside covers of songs associated with Briggs’ show. On Side B, John Brennan and the Bigfeet perform songs written for The Last Drive-In’s final two seasons. The collection marks the house band’s third official soundtrack release from the show.
The album celebrates more than four decades of GWAR and 40 years of Briggs’ television work as a film critic, commentator and entertainer. In his statement about the collaboration, Blöthar connects the band’s work to its horror influences:
“Lordy Lordy, look who’s 40! GWAR and Joe Bob Briggs. A match made in hell! I love horror movies, trash, and funny spooky stuff. GWAR wouldn’t exist without it. I was just a calf when creepy Joe Bob reached up my poodle skirt at the Last Drive-in. He promised he’d make me a star… Now we’ve made a record together!”
Briggs describes his invitation to the band in similarly theatrical terms: “To create the real spirit of Halloween, I called up my buddies – the intergalactic warriors who live in Antarctica – and I asked them to bring some fear, some filth, and some fun. Of course you know whom I’m talkin’ about… the Scumdogs of the Universe… GWAR!”
