HELLRIPPER has digitally released a cover of Arctic Monkeys’ “If You Found This It's Probably Too Late.” Guitarist, vocalist and songwriter James McBain discussed his choice of the B-side in the announcement supplied by Suspiria PR, citing an influence that extends to both songwriting and production.
“I wanted to record something that would perhaps be a little unexpected,” McBain said. He described Arctic Monkeys as “one of my all time favourite bands,” adding: “though it may not be immediately evident in my music, they have always greatly influenced how I approach songwriting and production. Enjoy!”
The recording is available through HELLRIPPER’s digital-singles destination alongside two previously released covers of songs by Seattle speed metal punks ZEKE. The announcement does not supply an exact release date for the Arctic Monkeys cover.
The release follows Coronach, which came out worldwide on March 27, 2026 through Century Media Records and marked HELLRIPPER’s debut for the label. McBain recorded and mixed the album at Coronach Studios in Scotland, UK. Damien Herring mastered it at Subterranean Watchtower Studios in the USA, while Adam Burke / Nightjar Illustration created the cover artwork.
Coronach runs through “Hunderprest” (05:49), “Kinchyle (Goatkraft and Granite)” (04:33), “The Art of Resurrection” (05:44), “Baobhan Sith (Waltz of the Damned)” (06:24), “Blakk Satanik Fvkkstorm” (03:53), “Sculptor’s Cave” (04:35), “Mortercheyn” (04:18) and “Coronach” (08:48). The supplied total running time is 44:09.
McBain began HELLRIPPER in 2014 and handles all instruments and vocals. The Scottish blackened thrash project’s background combines an interest in darkness and speed with Scottish history; its earlier releases include 2023’s Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags. The announcement separately identifies the live and video performance lineup as McBain on guitar and vocals, Joseph Quinlan on guitar, Andy Milburn on bass and Max Southall on drums.
The supplied album formats include jewelcase CD, digital and seven vinyl editions. These comprise black “Black Cuillin,” transparent magenta “Wild Thistle,” blue “Saltire,” grey “Highland Mist,” transparent forest green “Baobhan Sith,” electric smoke “Granite City” and ultra clear “Bean Nighe.” The announcement lists respective limited runs of 400 for “Wild Thistle,” 300 for “Saltire,” 1,000 for “Highland Mist,” 500 for “Granite City” and 300 for “Bean Nighe”; the black and forest green editions are listed as unlimited.
