HYPERION have partnered with No Clean Singing for the video premiere of “Fides Novem,” the second single from their forthcoming album Elysia. The Stockholm melodic black/death metal band announced the album for November 6 through Willowtip, with CD, double-LP and digital editions.
“Fides Novem” occupies the third position on the ten-track album and features guest vocals by Elias Lyxell. In commentary reproduced in the ClawHammer PR announcement, No Clean Singing described the song as nearly nine minutes long and characterized the album as a hybrid of melodic death and black metal.
The band’s statement places Elysia in relation to their debut, Seraphical Euphony: “It is different from Seraphical Euphony, but still contains the vital elements that make us what we are. To make this album a reality has been a titanic effort and we are beyond excited to finally have it released to the world.”
Recording took place between 2020 and 2023 at Wing Studios, Studio Forlorn Halls and various private locations. Sverker Widgren mixed and mastered the album at Wing Studios between 2023 and 2024.
The recording credits list Erik Molnar on guitars, synthesizer programming and spoken word; Joel Hagroth on guitars and spoken word; Mikael Malm on guitars; Raul Vicente on bass; and Mauritz Flodin on drums and orchestrations. Harry Lauraéus is credited with vocals and minor lyrical adjustments. Drum post-production was handled by HYPERION, Mortuz Denatus and Widgren.
Alongside Lyxell’s appearance on “Fides Novem,” the album includes guest vocals by Johan Nephente on “Nefarious Sacrament of the Immorals,” Atterigner on “Iliou Persis” and Karin Eriksson on “Paraphrosynia.” The “Iliou Persis” battle choir comprises Molnar, Hagroth, Malm, Mortuz Denatus, Johan Camling and Henrik Edman.
Khaos Diktator created the main album artwork and the artwork for “Iliou Persis.” Jacob Fredén supplied the “Fides Novem” artwork, while Joan Llopis Doménech created the artwork for “Paraphrosynia.” Marcos Cerutti designed the booklet, with ruin photographs and the “Iliou Persis” shield and spear sigil credited to Hagroth. The supplied band photography is credited to Varghamne.
HYPERION formed in Stockholm in 2007. According to the supplied biography, their initial melodic death metal influences later expanded to include Swedish and Norwegian black metal. Molnar is the only remaining member of the original lineup. The band issued their demo in 2010, and Hagroth replaced guitarist Efe Guner toward the end of the writing and recording process for their debut.
Black Lion Records released Seraphical Euphony in February 2016. That album combined new material with re-recorded songs from the Blood of the Ancients demo. The new announcement follows that debut with the recording details, guest contributions and complete running order for Elysia.
The album’s ten tracks are:
- Rapturous Overture
- Nefarious Sacrament of the Immorals
- Fides Novem
- Iliou Persis
- Paraphrosynia
- Perennial Transcendence
- Vigil of Longing
- Epic of Tribulation
