LAST CHANCE have shared a lyric video for their cover of The Rolling Stones’ ‘Heartbreaker,’ the first single from Dickpunch. The album is set for January 22, 2027, and follows the band’s 2023 self-titled debut.
Guitarist and producer Dave Baron had wanted to record the song for years. In the announcement supplied by Freeman Promotions, he explains that frontman Frankie Rage’s enthusiasm for The Rolling Stones helped bring the cover into LAST CHANCE’s repertoire. The original dates to 1973.
‘I’d wanted to cover the Stones’ “Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)” for years before LAST CHANCE, and with Frankie being as big a Stones fanatic as I am, it finally made sense,’ Baron says. ‘The song suited both LAST CHANCE’s dark, lyrical themes and Frankie's NYC street voice perfectly.’
Baron describes an arrangement that retains the original’s foundation while emphasizing his guitar work and Brian Tichy’s drumming: ‘We stayed true to what makes the original great but my guitars and Brian’s drums made the song much more muscular than the original. And hearing Frankie sing “The police in New York City” in an actual New York accent just felt right.’
The announcement places LAST CHANCE’s music between classic NYC punk and hard rock, pairing dark melodic hooks and political themes with groove-focused bass and forceful drums. Its lyrical subjects include abuse, disillusionment, lost time and regret. Those themes provide the context Baron gives for choosing the Stones song as the album’s first single.
Rage handles lead and backing vocals, with Baron on guitars and vocals and bassist Rob Phillips also identified as a producer. The announced lineup includes drummers Brian Tichy and Jordan Cannata. The release’s background notes cite Tichy’s work with Whitesnake, Ozzy and Foreigner, and Cannata’s work with Slaughter; Baron specifically identifies Tichy’s playing when discussing the cover.
Dickpunch contains ten tracks, with the Stones cover appearing third. Preorders are available through the band’s supplied Bandcamp album page.
