LENG TCH’E’s official video for “Hammered Into Collapse” accompanies the release of their new EP of the same name, out now digitally through Season of Mist. The Belgian razorgrind band pairs the title track with its latest single, “Voided,” in its first new material since 2017’s Razorgrind.

The title track was released on September 24 ahead of the complete two-song set. “Hammered Into Collapse” runs 02:11, followed by “Voided” at 02:44, giving the EP a total running time of 04:55. The announcement lists digital only as the available format and directs listeners to the title-track video on Season of Mist’s YouTube channel.

In the label’s account of the material, the two songs approach collapse from different perspectives. The title track uses the image of a parasite feeding on its host for 20 years without becoming satisfied. Serge Kasongo’s lyrics follow a narrator confronting a lifetime of avoidance and wasted time, including what the announcement identifies as “cerebral hijack.” “Voided” expands that internal breakdown into an apocalyptic setting, moving from mental unravelling toward total blackout.

Recording took place at Hearse Studio with engineer Lander Cluyse. Taylor Young mixed the EP at The Pit Recording Studio, while Brad Boatright mastered it at Audiosiege. The accompanying release information also credits Young with work involving God’s Hate, Full of Hell and Vitriol.

Kasongo handles vocals in the current LENG TCH’E lineup, alongside guitarist Jan Hallaert, drummer Olivier Coppens, and bassist and backing vocalist Nicolas Malfeyt. The gap between recordings did not mean a complete halt in activity: the supplied band history states that the group continued performing live.

LENG TCH’E began in Ghent in early 2001, initially under the name Anal Torture. Drummer Sven De Caluwé founded the project with guitarist Glen Herman, vocalist Isaac Roelens and bassist Kevin Loosveld. Their developing combination of grindcore, death metal, hardcore and stoner-related influences became known as razorgrind; the current release announcement describes the style in terms of death metal, grindcore and metalcore.

The early catalogue included Death by a Thousand Cuts, released through Spew in 2002, and ManMadePredator, which Willowtip released in the US the following year. A move to Relapse Records brought The Process of Elimination in 2005, followed by Marasmus in 2007.

De Caluwé departed in 2007, leaving the band without any founding members. LENG TCH’E continued with Hypomanic in 2010 and Razorgrind in 2017 before returning to recorded material with Hammered Into Collapse. The band photograph supplied with the new announcement is credited to Serch Carriere.
