NEAL MORSE & THE RESONANCE feature the official video for ‘Walk On Water’ in the announcement for their second studio album, River of Light, due November 27, 2026. The song appears among the record’s 12 tracks, which follow the band’s 2024 debut, No Hill For A Climber.
In the announcement distributed by Royal Avenue Media, Neal Morse describes an extended writing process that followed the group’s summer 2025 live shows. Work on new ideas began in October 2025, with enough material emerging for the musicians to consider a double album before settling on a single record.
“Following the success of No Hill For A Climber and some really great live shows in the summer of 2025, we knew that we wanted to make more music together. We started kicking around ideas in October 2025 and ended up spending much more time on this record. At one point it looked like it might become a double album because we had so many ideas. Eventually, we trimmed it down to a single album, and I think it works great,” Morse says.
River of Light is a progressive rock concept album built around a spiritual journey, drawing inspiration from Terah, the biblical father of Abraham. Morse explains the character’s place in the concept through the contrast between beginning a journey and completing it.
“Terah signifies someone who begins a journey with God but gets tired and allows sadness and resignation to keep them from going all the way,” he says. “However, his son completes the journey.”
The announcement also highlights the contributions of guitarist Andre Madatian and vocalist Jonny Bisaha. Morse points to their musical influences as part of the album’s collaborative writing, while identifying the arrangement and sequencing of the material as a particular challenge.
“On this album, you can really hear what these guys have brought to the table,” Morse says. “Partly because of their ages, they’re influenced by bands like Rush and 90s rock, which I think is really cool. We had so many ideas that simply fitting everything together and creating the right flow became a challenge in itself.”
NEAL MORSE & THE RESONANCE were announced in 2024, with No Hill For A Climber introducing the collaboration. The new album continues the group’s musical and spiritual themes across a sequence that opens with ‘Opening (River Of Light)’ and closes with the title track.
River of Light will be available as a limited 2CD digipak with a second disc of instrumentals, a standard CD jewelcase edition and a digital album. Pre-orders are available.
