RED CODE have released a lyric video for their version of Godsmack’s ‘I Stand Alone.’ The cover features on Traces of Unease and Discomfort, Ep. 1, available now worldwide via Wormholedeath.
Lenina’s vocals give the rendition its own character, with the arrangement drawing on heavy riffs, groove and shifting dynamics. The announcement describes a cover that retains the original’s power while incorporating RED CODE’s alternative metal sound and approach to live performance.
That performance background predates the band’s studio work. Founded in Trieste, Italy, by vocalist Lenina, drummer Ivo and bassist Andrea Bossi, RED CODE began as a live act. After Bossi passed away, Lenina and the remaining members decided to continue. Their live sound is built around her voice and four instruments, without backing tracks or studio sequencing.
Traces of Unease and Discomfort is the band’s first studio release following years of live activity. The supplied musical reference points connect the alternative metal aggression of System of a Down and Godsmack with the structural influence of progressive acts Dream Theater and Fates Warning.
RED CODE’s performance history includes small clubs, festivals and motorcycle rallies. They have opened for Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil), Exilia, Nicola Manzan (Bologna Violenta), Pierpaolo Capovilla (Il Teatro degli Orrori), Underwaves, Tystnaden, Logical Terror and Break Me Down. The band have also been featured on Radio Rai.
