For SAVAGE HANDS vocalist Mike Garrow, ‘Bullet Through A Halo’ captures the questions that follow a loss. Released October 16, 2026, via Oxide Music, the Maryland band's new single addresses the fear of losing someone and the difficulty of living with their absence.
Garrow describes the song as an attempt to represent grief while its conflicting emotions remain unresolved:
“Bullet Through A Halo represents one of the many stages of grief that come with losing someone or something. When we experience loss, our minds can become scattered with conflicting emotions, memories, questions, and uncertainty. Bullet Through A Halo is our representation of that grief, an attempt to encapsulate the feeling of being lost within it, questioning life, meaning, and everything around you in the wake of loss.”
The track considers the distance between loving someone and being able to save them. Its heavenly imagery sits alongside earthly suffering, bringing devotion, helplessness and uncertainty into the same account of loss. Where the preceding single ‘One Last Kiss’ addressed facing the end together, ‘Bullet Through A Halo’ turns toward the possibility of being left behind.
The release follows ‘It's Me,’ which received a feature on SiriusXM Octane, and joins recent songs ‘One Last Kiss,’ ‘Bruise,’ ‘Feel Me’ and ‘POWER.’ The band's broader sound combines post-hardcore, metalcore and alternative rock, pairing heavy riffs and dark atmosphere with prominent choruses.
Early guidance came from multi-platinum producers Andrew Baylis, whose credits include Jelly Roll and Sleeping With Sirens, and Lee Rouse, whose credits include The Funeral Portrait, Teddy Swims and Outlier. The announcement identifies their role in the band's early development without assigning production credits for the new single.
Since their 2018 debut, the quintet have accumulated more than 55 million streams. Earlier singles include ‘Demon,’ ‘Washed Away,’ ‘Halo’ and ‘Love No More.’ Their 2020 album The Truth In Your Eyes has surpassed 45 million streams, and two limited vinyl variants sold out immediately, according to the announcement.
Pandemic disruptions affected the band's longer-term plans, while their touring history includes support slots with Magnolia Park, Wage War and While She Sleeps, plus co-headlining dates with Archers. SAVAGE HANDS made their first DWP festival appearance at Louder Than Life in 2025; the press release reports that their set drew the Bourbon stage's largest crowd of the day.
After parting ways with Sharptone Records in 2025, SAVAGE HANDS began assembling a new album. The supplied biography describes their subsequent partnership with Oxide Records and a campaign rollout planned to begin in May 2026.
Discussing that album and partnership, Garrow said: “We are excited to finally close the chapter on all of the uncertainty the pandemic forced into our career. This album has been a long time coming, and we are so extremely grateful for Wetzel and Anthony at Oxide Records for believing in us and pushing us to become the band we were always meant to be.”
