SIFYN released their new single, “Lexicon,” on October 22, introducing another song from the forthcoming Self-Encrypted EP, due December 4. Founding member and frontman Lukas Magyar says the track was the first written for the five-song release and helped establish momentum for its songwriting.

“Lexicon was the first song written for this EP. We were stoked because it felt like we were off to a really good start with this one,” Magyar explains in the announcement distributed by Cupid Theory.

“It's always a good feeling to be very sure of the first song or two that you write for a body of work. Nobody wants to be second guessing themselves, so having something you're proud of early has always been a good way to build momentum.”

The announcement describes “Lexicon” as combining heavy guitars with pop-forward melodies, alternative-rock textures and emo influences. Its lyrical focus is the anger of confronting someone else's choices, including concealed motives and revelations that cannot be undone. Alongside that frustration, the song addresses personal agency: the recognition that a person can control their own actions, rather than those of others.

“Lexicon” joins “Sew Me Up” and “Code” in introducing Self-Encrypted. The supplied EP biography describes a shift toward Magyar's lived experiences, with songs addressing loved ones in crisis, identity, ideology, dreams, reality and personal agency. That approach differs from the band's 2022 debut, Marionette, which often placed aspects of his life within fictional characters.

Founded by Magyar, formerly of VEIL OF MAYA, SIFYN developed from a studio project into a five-piece band. The Minneapolis outfit draws on metalcore, modern alternative rock and early-2000s emo, with electronics and layered vocals also forming part of the sound described in the announcement. The project gave Magyar space to explore broader melodic writing and less restrictive genre boundaries alongside his work in heavy music.

SIFYN's lineup comprises vocalist Lukas Magyar, guitarists Mike Green and Dustin Korth, bassist and co-writer Derek Sampson, and drummer Avery Frisk.

The Self-Encrypted running order is “Code,” “Sovereign,” “Sew Me Up,” “Invoker” and “Lexicon.” Preorders are available through the band's supplied website destination. The announcement's photograph of Magyar is credited to Laura Baker.
