STORMRULER – trace Aurelia’s fractured alliances on Morning Nautical Twilight

A scribe’s discovery sets the present-day story of STORMRULER’s Morning Nautical Twilight in motion. Introduced through first single “Chapter II: In The Eye Of Umbria,” that rediscovery connects the characters of the band’s third album to a buried history of rival nations, an ancient relic and a broken alliance.

The album is due December 4, 2026, through Distortion Music Group (DMG) – Powered by Reigning Phoenix Music. Its twelve chapters, framed by a prologue and epilogue, take place in the fantasy world of Aurelia. Musically, STORMRULER combine driving rhythms rooted in heavy metal with expansive leads and folk influences, retaining the blast beats, shrieked vocals and melodic atmosphere of their self-described Imperial Black Metal.

“Chapter II: In The Eye Of Umbria” is the first chapter set in present-day Aurelia. It establishes central characters while introducing the record’s rhythmic drive, lead work and folk elements. The wider narrative begins more than two thousand years earlier, when six nations end centuries of conflict and create the Great Imperial Scepter to represent their union. Forged from rare Aurelian Steel, it carries a stone containing the essence of ancient gods.

The relic’s power attracts outside enemies. An invasion breaks the alliance, the Scepter is concealed, and the Seal needed to reach it is thrown into the sea. When a young scribe uncovers that history centuries later, the discovery revives the danger attached to it.

In “Subterranean Sorcery,” the search moves beneath the Arcadian Sea. An expedition intended to recover a lost inheritance instead reveals a conspiracy: the Seal is stolen, a king is killed, and the forces of Valdheim gain an opening to invade. The king’s death leaves Lanuthor Lancaster facing the responsibilities of leadership while grieving his father. His efforts to earn trust and unite divided nations place loyalty and duty at the center of the conflict.

The title track follows an eastern fleet sailing toward unsuspecting western shores. Twilight recurs throughout the story as a sign of discovery and danger. The fall of Belgorath and the stand at Starcrest Pass lead toward a confrontation that requires the nations to overcome their divisions. “When The White Horn Sounds” answers that call, while “Engulfed In The Flames Of Oaken Pyre” brings the struggle toward its conclusion. The epilogue turns to restoration after victory, acknowledging the losses and the uncertainty that remains beyond Aurelia’s shores.

Gabe Usery produced, mixed and mastered Morning Nautical Twilight at Encapsulated Studios. Mark Erskine and Jason Asberry created the artwork. A detailed map of Aurelia accompanies the narrative, tracing its ocean routes, ancient strongholds and frozen mountain ranges.

Based in St. Louis, Missouri, STORMRULER consist of Jason Asberry and Jesse Schobel. Asberry handles electric guitar, lead vocals, bass and mandolin; Schobel plays drums, sampler and mouth harp. Their music and imagery draw on fantasy, history, ancient realms and elaborate mythologies.

The duo released their debut, Under The Burning Eclipse, through Napalm Records in 2021, followed by Sacred Rites & Black Magick in 2022. In 2026, STORMRULER signed to DMG and released the standalone single “Dark Age Of Deception.” Morning Nautical Twilight develops their storytelling across the interconnected Imperial Chronicles, addressing the fragility of peace, ambition and the responsibilities of leadership.
