Former Symphony X bassist Thomas Miller worked with two former bandmates on the self-titled debut from THOMAS MILLER’S LAZARUS EFFECT: guitarist Michael Romeo and keyboardist Michael Pinnella. Sensory Records will release the 49-minute progressive metal album on October 30, 2026, on CD, LP and digital platforms.

The project grew out of Miller’s recording collaboration with vocalist Hollywood How Portney in 2017. Miller continued writing and recording on other projects after leaving Symphony X; his musical chemistry with Portney, alongside interactions with fans over the years, led him to begin writing for THOMAS MILLER’S LAZARUS EFFECT.

Eric Rachel mixed and mastered the debut. Rachel also produced Symphony X’s first six albums, connecting the recording with another collaborator from Miller’s earlier career. Rodrigo Gudiña handled the album’s art and design.

Miller began playing in central New Jersey, working in cover and original bands influenced by progressive music from the 1970s and 1980s. He met Romeo in 1986, and the two recorded and performed together in several bands. In 1994, they formed Symphony X, recruited the remaining members and signed with Japanese label Zero Records. Miller later stepped away from the group.

The announced running order begins with “Dark Horse,” followed by “Fear No Evil,” “All The King’s Horses,” “Closer To The Sun,” “Aria Etude,” “When Darkness Falls,” “Culmination” and “Sailing To Utopia.” “Aria Etude” is listed as a bonus track.

“Sailing To Utopia” closes the album with five parts, in sequence: “In The Palace Of Knossos,” “Thunder’s Majesty,” “Judging The Darkness,” “‘Neath The Heel Of Mayhem” and “Return.” The announcement lists preorders through the label webstore and Bandcamp, including standard audio and 24-bit high-resolution options on Bandcamp.
