WAYFARER – bring Munly J Munly and Rebecca Vera into ‘Grey Country’

release artwork

Munly J Munly and Rebecca Vera join WAYFARER on Grey Country, the third and final single ahead of the Denver, Colorado band’s sixth album, Riders of the Setting Sun. The album is due November 20 via Vesperian.

The collaboration connects the track with Denver’s gothic Americana tradition. Longtime collaborators Munly and Vera are associated with Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, Munly & The Lupercalians and DBUK. Their appearance follows David Eugene Edwards’ contribution to Perdition’s Crossing, also included on the album.

The announcement describes Grey Country as a slow, brooding song concerned with legacy, guilt and what remains when everything else is lost. Munly’s voice meets WAYFARER’s sparse instrumentation in a setting the press material places between confession and lament.

Produced by Ben Chisholm (Chelsea Wolfe), Riders of the Setting Sun moves beyond WAYFARER’s extreme metal roots toward gothic Americana, incorporating post-punk, folk and rock and roll. Its eight tracks also include guest appearances by Kelly Schilling on Casey’s Last Ride and Midwife on Prairies Of Babylon.
