‘Scarlet Psalm’ is the song accompanying WOUNDED TOUCH’s They Promised Eden, Vol. 2 with an official music video. Released October 2, 2026 through Ferret Music, the three-track EP is available for streaming and download.

In the press announcement supplied by Cupid Theory, vocalist Nick Holland explains the song’s place within the band’s writing: ‘Scarlet Psalm is the bridge between the band’s sound we started with and where we’ve arrived today, carried by lyrics about the righteousness of martyrdom.’

The announcement describes the song’s themes as complicity, grief and the responsibility of witnessing suffering. Its account focuses on the distance between consuming images of violence and accepting responsibility for a response. Holland connects the song’s redemptive ending to the band’s past mistakes and the opportunity it received from Ferret.

Holland describes the second volume’s approach as retaining cynicism while introducing ‘an aggressive optimism in both sound and subject.’ He says the response to the first volume brought the band back into the studio before the second was fully mapped out, giving the sessions an energy he compares to their teenage years.

His explanation also addresses how the two volumes fit together. ‘The marriage of “They Promised Eden” Volume 1 and 2 as a singular release is like looking at a single photo of a living thing mid metamorphosis,’ Holland says. He characterizes the second half as a reflection of the direction taken by the first.

Among the decisions he discusses is including a re-recording of ‘Sleep a Cicada Would Envy,’ which he felt suited the material’s overall tone. ‘Though it’s a collection of ultimately two separate releases, it still feels like a singular release in concept and the pieces had always been intended to fit together that way,’ he says.

They Promised Eden, Vol. 2 contains three tracks in this order:

  1. Sleep a Cicada Would Envy
  2. Scarlet Psalm
  3. Amber Waves of Arson

A separate vinyl edition of They Promised Eden combines both volumes and is available to preorder through Ferret Music. The six-song edition is pressed on one side of a 12-inch record, with an etching on Side B. The official pressing information lists 100 Orange Smoke copies, 150 Lemon, Light Blue & Black copies, and 250 Light Blue, White & Black copies.

The vinyl sequence begins with ‘Removing the Arrows,’ ‘Cachexia’ and ‘A Weapon In God’s Country (feat. Jack Murray),’ followed by the three tracks from They Promised Eden, Vol. 2. The physical preorder remains distinct from the EP’s confirmed digital release and current streaming and download availability.
