WYRM CHASM’s “Throned Entropy” has received a video premiere through Mystification Zine, giving listeners another route into the Dallas quartet’s self-titled debut. The track is the album’s second single and was announced for digital availability on October 2. The complete record follows on October 23 in vinyl, CD and digital editions.
The premiere follows “Netjer”, which also has an available video. The two selections offer separate points of entry into the eight-track album rather than a single uninterrupted presentation of the record. The band describe the debut as a combination of their melodic and atmospheric black metal approach; the video premiere and the earlier clip are presented alongside the release’s Bandcamp pre-order destination.
Guitarist Eric Carrasco and bassist and vocalist Stephen Jeter formed WYRM CHASM in March 2015. The current lineup adds guitarist and backing vocalist Dale Childs and drummer Buddy Griffin. The announcement frames the album around atmosphere, melodic riffing and forceful percussion, without reducing its sound to the comparisons included in the promotional material.
Tracking took place at Razor Throne Studio in Austin, Texas. Mixing and mastering are credited to S.A.M, Studios in Dallas. Mark Erskine of Erskine Designs created the album art, while the supplied band photograph carries an HSL Studios credit. The artwork accompanies the forthcoming debut, while the band photograph presents the musicians behind it.
