THE MOSAIC WINDOW has shared “Lightning Be Thy Guide,” the latest single from Answered Prayers, due November 13 via Vesperian/Metal Blade Records. The release follows the previously issued video for lead single “What Sage Could Not Cleanse,” offering another song from Andrew Steven “Skeletonhammer” Brown’s black metal solo project.
The announcement, supplied by EARSPLIT PR, describes “Lightning Be Thy Guide” as a predominantly mid-tempo piece that emphasizes weight and atmosphere. Its dynamic approach sits within an album drawing on the first and second waves of black metal, with fast, melodic material forming part of the record’s broader direction.
Brown, also known for his work in Bone Abduction, takes THE MOSAIC WINDOW away from the progressive elements and death/black metal combination heard on 2024’s Hemasanctum. Answered Prayers is presented as a deliberate return to black metal’s roots. The earlier “What Sage Could Not Cleanse” video introduced the album’s lead single; the newly announced track is the fourth song in its ten-track sequence.
The record’s concept concerns a poisoned world and the retroactive erasure of humanity centuries before the Industrial Revolution. That nihilistic premise connects the ten songs, placing the album’s account of human destruction within a scenario in which humanity’s history is undone.
Alex Sedin mixed and mastered Answered Prayers at Ghostalgy Productions. Brown is credited under the Skeletonhammer name with instruments and vocals, while Dmitry Kim, whose credits include Jinjer, performed the session drums.
The album opens with “Premonition Of The Prophecy,” followed by “The Fog Carries Plague,” “Serpentine,” “Lightning Be Thy Guide” and “What Sage Could Not Cleanse.” Its second half comprises “Blood And Chains,” “Unsheathing The Fall Of Man,” “Crusader,” “Echoes Of Answered Prayers” and the closing “Devotion To My Burning Desire.” Preorders are available.
