  • HAVOK at Warsaw Concerts 11/22/24

This was not my first time in front of thrash metal band Havok… in fact in 2012 i video interviewed drummer Pete (in Albany supporting Sepultura) and then 2016 we did a photoshoot by Terminal 5 (supporting Megadeth) and later a year after they came back to NYC to the Irving Plaza.

After that the bassist left the band ( the second one i knew), and two original  members when to play to another bands and then pandemic hit us so i wasn’t sure what i was getting this time around… don’t get me wrong, Havok is one of the top contenders among all of the newer bands in this style of music above everyone else… but two original members missing.. i was like wow…. can guitarist/vocalist pull it off?!?…

To my surprise… original drummer was there waiting to start the show along with the bassist that we have had the photoshoot was there too, and new lead guitar was the only new face … the music started and there it was, the Havok machine was pounding hard as it was before.

I was 100% in awe… i knew all of their songs… and they were delivering them flawlessly it was a great time until we all were asked to leave the pit by the second song… :(  resulting and less opportunities for close ups photos, etc etc. In the end, people was responding accordingly, crowd surfing and mosh pit were part of the ritual as it should be.

Havok always delivers a solid and powerful set and they should be doing more shows around NY no doubt.

  • EXODUS at Warsaw Concerts 11/22/24

    EXODUS at Warsaw Concerts 11/22/24

The Battle of ‘24 North American Tour

It was the year 1989 during my sophomore year when after classes with a couple of classmates we stayed after the classes to listen out loud the cassette tape radio and our latest acquisitions… i remember clearly until to this day, Slayer ‘Reign In Blood’, Kreator ‘Terrible Certainty’ and Exodus ‘Fabulous Disaster’.

What a gift was for me this time… out of the three songs that i have to be as a photographer in front of the band  two of them were right out that precise album.

When the music is good i get to shoot super inspired but when i know it… i follow their beat, their accents, their stops… everything because it means it comes in my very own DNA… and i get to connect with them.

The precursors of Thrash Metal performed in Brooklyn NY this 2024 a devastating set list, obliterating each and everyone of the concert goers that received the super charged energy that Gary Holt, Steve Souza, Tom Hunting &  cia have us addicted to.

The demolition squad started out and ended up hammering their speed and their precision into our brains and if you did not know any of their older tunes, with the brand new ones they were going to infected you anyways with their thrash metal poison that will live and stay in your veins forever.

Not sure what else can be described as happiness for a metalhead when is in front of a band such as Exodus.

    Just exhilarating & unforgettable.

  • ARMORED SAINT at Manhattan Center 11/16/24

What can i say about Armored Saint that will reflect what i have experienced… i mean i am a drummer, bassist, photographer, father but not a writer so here i go with my best intention…

What i can say about Armored Saint is that when you have the chance to be in front them you will get a group of people delivering the extra effort that a musician can give.

Besides the fact that they are top musicians endorsed by the biggest brands in music because of that, they bring to the stage a special kind of energy that transpire to the crowd that always responds to it. John Bush charisma can win over anyone and anything is possible during the show of the band.

Performing always towards the people with a type of perfection execution of their tunes Armored Saint places themselves among the bands that are needed to be seeing if you are a metalhead.

This was my second time in front of them and they did not disappointed, instead they have an impressive show full of rage and action.

    Keep The Saint Alive.

  • W.A.S.P. at Hammerstein Ballroom 11/16/24

What a trip on the W.A.S.P. time machine! It was like going back to a time where heavy rock music was on top of everything else, glorious and majestic.

All the classic tunes were played and all the people responded accordantly. Screaming with their fist in the air in front of a band that was energetic and putting up a very good show.

For me the whole thing was too quick and i was definitely not processing all of the information presented on the stage in my head. Too good to stop and enjoy it but too fast and wanting more of it at once.

Like i said, the time machine worked like a charm and i was transported to another era of heavy metal.

Glad that had the opportunity to be there capturing W.A.S.P. as they delivered the emotional piece missing from our hearts and minds as we got older.

    Come back soon. :)
