  • AUTUMN LIES BURIED New EP "Mob Mentality" + Kick-Off HELLHOWLER TOUR w/ Casket Robbery

Extreme metal outfit Autumn Lies Buried is proud to announce the release of their highly anticipated “Mob Mentality” EP, available worldwide starting June 6th, 2025. The release coincides with the first date of the Hell Howler Tour, where the band will share stages with Casket Robbery across the United States. The EP delivers the band's signature blend of extreme metal styles with a powerful social message. The band comments:

“Mob Mentality is a reiteration of what we were talking about in previous songs like Inhuman Skin. The common people have been trained to think they are powerless to change their course in life. They think that the hands of the powerful will hold them down generation after generation, and that’s “Just the way it is. Well, we are preaching sin with Mob Mentality, and by sin, we mean Strength In Numbers. We cannot be held down if we band together against the grifters, charlatans, oppressors, and connivers. Burn it all.”

'The EP is a call to arms against injustice. Fuel for the fire that cleanses,' the band continues. All members contributed to the writing process, with each individual taking responsibility for fine-tuning and lyrics, followed by collaborative adjustments. This democratic approach to songwriting reflects the band's commitment to their message of collective action and solidarity.

Autumn Lies Buried delivers an anti-fascist message with their music while still maintaining a fun and jovial environment for all present at their live shows. Fans can expect breakneck energy with a positive message, if not a bit violent sometimes. The band just wants to have fun and wants the same for everyone there. The Hell Howler Tour runs from June 6th to June 15th, giving fans across the United States the opportunity to experience Autumn Lies Buried’s notoriously energetic live performances. They are recommended for fans of Tech N9ne, The Acacia Strain, and Twisted Insane.

Formed simply as a creative outlet in which there are no rules, Orillia, ON's TANGENTS plays music with the idea of no constraints, no guidelines, and producing what they would want to hear. Releasing their fourth EP entitled "Molt" this past April, Tangents announces they will be hitting the road this coming July for tour dates across Eastern Canada in Ontario, Quebec, New Brwunwick, and Nova Scotia. With elements of mathcore, prog, and post-hardcore, Tangents take you on a brutally honest journey with nothing to hide during an emotional and heavy 10 minutes on their latest EP's three tracks. The band's goal is to keep the listener on their toes, along with themselves as musicians. Keeping things fresh and ever evolving.

"For this EP, we decided on the 3 songs simply to capture that specific moment in time. I feel that there’s always room for growth, so we constantly keep evolving, we're stoked and proud to release Molt. With our most focused effort, we present to fans a multitude of experiences in a compact timeframe. This offering allowed us to open and embrace challenges and overcome the obstacles that come with growth," adds guitarist Will Tennant.

Taking pride that each member of the band is a multi-instrumentalist, Tangents are a bare bones heavy band, and at the end of the day, they get up there and rock out live to showcase very visceral songs. It's a roller coaster of emotions throughout each track.

  • AUGURIUM Unleashes Tolkien Inspired Single "Faith & Death Pt. I." + Show Date Supporting INTO ETERNITY

Unleashing their third studio release “Unearthly Will” in 2023 and 2024 single / video "Morningstar", Regina, Canada's symphonic death metal outfit Augurium returns with their first taste of new music in 2025 for fans in the lead up to their opening support for progressive death masters and hometown heroes Into Eternity on May 17th. (details below).

Fans of the band are in for a positive surprise. It’s still the same Augurium they’ve been listening to since Unearthly Will, but this song taps into a more emotional side.

"For us as a band, it represents a sort of new Augurium, still within the same style we've been playing since 2021, yet naturally evolving. The goal was to create a dramatic listening experience—almost like the progression of a film. There are highs and lows, emotionally driven sections, movements that depict scenes in a hero's journey, and crushing, deafening moments. This is the first half of a sonic saga portraying the struggle between opposing forces," adds guitarist Cejay Carnochan.

Entitled "Faith & Death Pt. I.", the track is the first chapter of an epic two-part symphonic death metal series. The song is rooted in the mythological hero’s journey, using Tolkien-like storytelling to explore the duality of good and evil, which resonates in its artwork created by Mark Erskine, who also did Augurium's Unearthly Will cover art.

"'Faith and Death Pt. I' is themed around The Lord of the Rings. Part one speaks to the side of evil. This track was written from the perspective of Mordor’s legions. Moreover, it touches on the eternal struggle of light and dark and how both cannot survive without the other. A shadow cannot exist without the light. Death—the only thing certain for all mortals. If neither side can agree on which god to worship, which philosophy to follow, or what is right and wrong, one thing is undeniably and indiscriminately certain: death,"

Recommended for fans of Shadow of Intent, Septicflesh, and Mental Cruelty, listen to "Faith & Death Pt. I" at the following links:

  • Cosmic Thrashers Crüzer Unleash New EP "Look to the Skies" + Show Dates + CD Pre-Order

L-R: Nico Miraftab (guitar), Eric Willmott (lead vocals), Alex Gain (drums), Ben Higgins (guitar, bass), New member: Esteban Lleuful (bass; not pictured)

    Photos: Caitlin R.D.

Unleashing their debut EP "Look to the Skies" this past April, Crüzer is not just a band—they are a cosmic metal assault from the Great White North. Hailing from Vancouver, BC, Canada, their sound is as unstoppable as an alien invasion force, tearing through the atmosphere with electrifying solos and unforgettable hooks.

With their undeniable stage presence (recently performing at this year's Hyperspace Metal Festival) and the power of the riff, these melodic cosmic thrashers celebrate the bizarre and otherworldly wonders of the universe. Metalheads can expect a raging, thrashing good time, but with a melodic and humorous twist. Crüzer isn’t afraid to turn trash on its head and infuse the flavour with all kinds of spices and secret sauces.

"EARTHLINGS!!! Crank it to 11, and prepare for an out-of-this-world heavy metal experience. Your alien overlords are pleased to unveil our newest slice of interplanetary propaganda, LOOK TO THE SKIES!

Five tracks of raging, rip-roaring, intergalactic speed metal, with a multitude of different flavours catered to the tastes of every thrasher, from the melodic Metallica nerds to the greasy Slaytanic Wehrmacht. Perfect for cruzing down the interstellar highway or around Saturn’s rings.

CONSUME, EARTHLINGS! LISTEN AND REJOICE!!! BASK IN THE GLORY OF YOUR ALIEN OVERLORDS AND CELEBRATE OUR ARRIVAL!!!" adds the band.

With the EP streaming on all digital platforms as of April 4, 2025, Crüzer plans to release the 5-track record on CD, with the release date to be determined. CD pre-order will be available from the band via their Bandcamp at https://cruzermuzik.bandcamp.com.

"Look to the Skies" is recommended for fans of all things thrash, such as Havok, Exodus (Zetro era), Destruction, Metallica (Ride the Lightning era), Exciter, and 80s Judas Priest.

  • FEN's Doug Harrison' Releases Solo Project SLUG COMPARISON's Third Album "A Battle to the End Fought on the Edge of a Knife"

Doug Harrison (Slug Comparison) - Photo Credit: Bailey Ennig

Canadian vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Doug Harrison, known for his progressive rock outfit FEN, is excited to share his solo project SLUG COMPARISON's third album, "A Battle to the End Fought on the Edge of a Knife," out now, as of May 9th, 2025.

Recorded over the same period as Fen's Dear Mouse (Sept 2024). Both recordings had been a long time coming, and then by chance, they converged to completion at the same time.

"It became a bit of a competition to see which one would be mastered first. In the end, it was pretty much a tie, because I had a couple of recalls for the Slug Comparison master, but I wanted to put out Dear Mouse first, because it had been so bloody long in the making, and we were desperate to wash our hands of it," adds Harrison.

Slug Comparison's previous records were built on the layering of electric and acoustic guitars, and earnest, melodic vocals. This latest 11-song album has abandoned the acoustics and is more riff-heavy to lean into his early influence of grunge.

    Harrison comments:

"For past albums, it was tricky keeping the momentum going with half the songs being acoustic and light and the other half being heavy-ish. This time around, electric guitars carry the listener from beginning to end. A straight-up rock album. That was the goal. And lyrically, it follows in the tradition of songs like AC/DC’s “It’s a Long Way to the Top,” the difference being that Slug Comparison hasn’t left the house yet. A Battle to the End Fought on the Edge of a Knife is a grief statement about the abandonment of rockstar dreams. It’s also a collection of yearnings, regrets, and celebrations along the way."

"A Battle to the End Fought on the Edge of a Knife" was written by Harrison along with vocals, guitar, bass, and programming. He is joined by drummer Flavio Cirillo (Art of Dying, Puddle of Mudd), along with a collaboration on the song “Wish to Adapt” with Matt McCallum. Mixing was done by Ben Kaplan (Biffy Clyro, Bend Sinister, Ninjaspy, Mother Mother, Corb Lund) and mastering by Brock McFarlane at CPS Mastering (Mother Mother, Corb Lund).

Harrison does assure fans that future releases will continue to explore the moody, acoustic-based territories that defined his earlier work. After this album, fans can expect a new EP from Slug Comparison in 2026.
