  • LOVER Release Limited Edition Cassette For EP "Fatal Attraction" + Armstrong Metal Fest 2025

Now available as of June 20th, Calgary's high-intensity, no filler rockers LOVER, release their limited edition cassette for their latest EP "Fatal Attraction". Fans can now rock out with a physical anthem in hand. Heavy metal fans can experience what "Fatal Attraction" truly is: a fast, real, kick to the face. Even though the EP is only two tracks, this is a sampler of what's to come. The opening title track is an energetic rush of sound that captures the ups and downs of being overwhelmed by desire. The lyrics feed this feeling by talking about lust and substance abuse. Track 2. "Bad Love" lyrically is a tough and mean reality check. It's based on a true story of love gone wrong. It has aggressive riffs, mean solos, and is captures the strain of a mind in love and turmoil.

"High energy, vocal harmonies, guitar harmonies, pounding drums. We deliver a full Rock n' Roll experience. We only had a few songs ready at the time of this recording, so we all decided on our best 2 songs. We have been diligently writing and have more than enough material for a full-length record. We are starting to write a 2nd record already. Most songs are demoed. We are hoping to get some help with the costs of recording our first full-length record." - Lover

  • KRATORNAS Announces “Ravaged by Hurakaan” Vinyl and Cassette Demo Ahead of Upcoming Album "God of the Tribes" Out August 2025

Saskatoon, Canada's Kratornas is set to unleash a special vinyl demo on May 20th and remix cassette on May 30th, 2025, through Grathila Records. These releases serve as a prelude to the highly anticipated full-length album “God of the Tribes,” scheduled for release on August 20th, 2025. The mastermind behind Kratornas comments:

"This album marks a turning point for KRATORNAS. Not because it tries to be “different” but because it couldn’t have come out any other way. Every part of this release came together naturally. The sound, the pacing, the tension... it wrote itself, shaped by instinct and intention. This album is unlike the usual Kratornas, so anyone expecting it to sound like “early Kratornas” will be disappointed.

The 7" vinyl demo features “Ravaged by Hurakaan” on Side A, with Side B containing an instrumental “Drum and Bass” version of the same track. This vinyl-exclusive release will not be available in digital format, making it a true collector's item for dedicated fans. Simultaneously, Kratornas will release a remix of the track on cassette. Both the vinyl and the upcoming album were mastered by Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity).

"Ravaged by Hurakaan" serves as track #3 on the upcoming full-length album "God of the Tribes," giving fans an early taste of what to expect from the new material. Unlike previous Kratornas releases known for their "superfast brutality," this new material focuses on build-up and atmosphere, showcasing a significant evolution in sound.

The new material features previously unexplored instrumentation, including a 7-string guitar for L/R channels and a 6-string fretless bass, moving away from blast beats and heavily distorted guitars toward a more nuanced approach. Black Metal fans, especially those with an interest in “being progressive”, should take note.

Vinyl and cassette pre-orders are available at https://kratornas.bandcamp.com/album/ravaged-by-hurakaan-7ep-2025

  • ARTACH Unleash Video "Macha" From New Album "Morrigan...Goddess of War" Out Mid-March 2025

Newfoundland, Canada's black metal duo ARTACH announces the release of their latest album "Morrigan...Goddess of War" due out on March 21st, 2025 via Depressive Illusions Records. This third full length represents the band's strongest material yet. It's a relentless assault of blackened thrash metal that captures the intensity and fury the duo have always strived for. From crushing riffs to searing melodies, every track on this release is forged with raw passion.

"We've poured everything into this record, and we can't wait for fans to experience the full force of Morrigan...Goddess of War." adds Sruthán (Guitar/Bass).

Today, Artach unveils the lead single "Macha", one of the three songs that are part of the Morrigan trilogy on the album with the songs that also includes "Badb", and "Nemain".

    Sruthán (Guitar/Bass). explains further:

"Macha, one of the Morrígan, was known for her prophetic visions and her role as a fierce protector of warriors. She is sometimes considered one aspect of the Morrígan, a trio of war goddesses.

The three goddesses, and what elements they represent, that make up the Morrígan in Irish mythology are:
    Macha – War, sovereignty, horses.
    Badb – Battle, death, chaos.
    Nemain – Frenzy, panic, terror.
Together, they represent different aspects of war, fate, and destruction in Celtic mythology."

Being from the foggiest, snowiest, wettest, windiest, and gloomiest capital city in Canada, one should not be surprised that this fuels the creation of Black Metal. Their inspiration comes from the land, nature, the bleak weather of the Canadian North, and influential black metal bands.

Since the duo’s formation in the spring of 2019, Artach has been consistently releasing new music. The band’s debut album “Chronicles of a Black Winter” was released digitally during February 2020 and later unleashed on physical CD by Depressive Illusions Records. In 2021, the band returned with their next offering “Sworn To Avenge”, a full-length scourge of raw and relentless bruting gloom. In 2024, Artach took an experimental direction with the EP "Sgrios", which was a black metal spin on industrial metal sounds.

Now in 2025, they unleash their third full length offering with "Morrigan...Goddess of War" for release in mid-March.
