  The metal community is mourning the sad news of drummer, composer, and storyteller Joshua Nassaru Ward (age 37) who passed away on New Year's Eve night December 31st after his car with him, his fiance Amanda Lynn Leroux, and two friends, Audrey Ross and Jade Burton were struck by a drunk driver on Cooley Bridge Road in Belton, South Carolina. Ward leaves behind a young son Kai. A GoFundMe has been created to aid in funeral costs, please donate at https://www.gofundme.com/f/remembering-josh-ward-music-and-martial-arts​

  Ward was a pinnacle force in the Carolina metal scene known for his musical adventures in Enthean, Rapheumets Well, Xael, Olkoth, and Voraath (Exitus Stratagem Records) along with being a drum tech for bands NILE, and Terrorizer plus being endorsed by Los Cabos Drumsticks and Saluda Cymbals. He had a strong passion for drumming, sci-fi lore, directing videos, martial arts, and giving back to the community with his recent humanitarian efforts delivering aid during recent floods. His memory will be forever cherished by his family and extended metal family across the United States and beyond. He was a beloved friend to all. His genuine generosity and to lead with kindness to all were one of his most beloved characteristics. Rest In Power m/m/ Drum Eternally On The Other Side!

  "It is with a heavy heart that the ExSR family reports that we have lost one of our own. Joshua Ward, the drummer and creative genius behind the band, Voraath passed away in an automobile accident on December 31st. This news comes as a harsh blow to everyone who knew him professionally and personally. Besides his stellar work with Voraath, he had also been spending time with us, putting in extra work at the label. We will miss Joshua for many reasons, from his inexhaustible imagination and passion for Voraath and its universe to his kindness and his infectious laugh. Voraath was in the process of recording new music and was about to unleash an entirely new webpage of lore for their universe. We will work with the band as they decide their next steps.   Texas, USA’s metal powerhouse Abolishment of Flesh has just released the intense lyric video for “Words Defy Truth” taken from their latest EP “Resurrecting Misanthropy”, which was released in 2023. The video, now streaming online, offers fans a visceral visual accompaniment to the band's uncompromising sonic assault that blurs the lines between black, thrash, and death metal. Fund and multi-instrumentalist Ramon Cazares comments on the track:

  “‘Words Defy Truth’ was written almost 10 years ago. I’m a big melody and somewhat tech fan, so this has been both challenging and fun to write and perform. This song is about some of the stuff that I saw and experienced when I was involved in church. It seemed like the deeper I got involved, the darker things got. It wasn’t necessarily nefarious but the manipulation, control, fear, and empty hope and promises were enough for me to walk away from religion.”

  The track runs four minutes of pure, unadulterated metal aggression, which demonstrates why Abolishment of Flesh continues to push the boundaries of extreme music. With themes rooted in war, violence, disease, corruption, and the systematic collapse of human civilization, Abolishment of Flesh delivers an anti-human message about death and destruction.

  Dehumanizing Itatrain Worship, the pioneering force in the anime slam and brutal death metal scene, is once again primed to demolish musical boundaries with their new single “Brutal Panzer”.   “This song was inspired by the anime ‘Girls und Panzer’. We love the military otaku culture in the anime, so we created a song with cute melodies, but still brutal, just like the characters in the anime who are kawaii girls but drive tanks into battle. This is the second single we released for our new album. It returns to some of our 2016 styles, but also includes many new ideas.”

  “Brutal Panzer” draws direct inspiration from the anime series Girls und Panzer, exemplifying the band's commitment to creating more than just a musical gimmick. According to Kiryu, the single represents the band's evolving mission to integrate anime culture into their music authentically.

  Thirteen Goats's "Capricorn Rising," tells the story of their mascot, Shepherd: a goat-skull-wearing Antichrist who raises an army of animals to liberate the earth from humanity’s constant wars and greed. This high-concept narrative is delivered with Thirteen Goats' signature blend of infernal riffs, huge hooks, and uniquely theatrical songwriting.

  Each song on the album is part of a broader narrative that explores themes of disillusionment, radicalization, and rebellion as Shepherd and his 12 demon goats wage their crusade. Thirteen Goats delivers a unique blend of death and thrash metal, combined with a storytelling approach that takes listeners on a journey through the darkest aspects of both human and animal nature.
