  Ancient Thrones, the Canadian progressive blackened death metal force known for their visceral storytelling and relentless sonic assault, is set to officially release their long-awaited sophomore album, "Melancholia," on September 19th (Vinyl and Digital), and can be heard in full before its unleashed via its album stream premiere on Decibel Magazine HERE.

  Described by the band as “the sound of existential exhaustion,” "Melancholia" is a 42-minute concept album that plunges listeners into a surreal narrative: a colourblind protagonist takes hallucinogens in a desperate attempt to see colour, only to spiral into a kaleidoscopic nightmare. From the explosive opening of “A Moon Fused Key” to the haunting decay of “Vacant,” the album is a relentless barrage of speed, aggression, and cinematic atmosphere.

  ​“This is truly an unapologetic extreme metal concept album. It’s a bad trip you can’t escape, jagged, abstract, and emotionally devastating,” says the band.

  Formed in 2011 and rebranded in 2018, Ancient Thrones has evolved into a fully realized extreme metal entity, thanks in part to the addition of multi-band virtuoso Dylan Wallace. The writing process began in early 2020, just as the world was descending into pandemic-induced uncertainty. Rather than reflect the global crisis directly, the band channeled their energy into crafting a deeply personal and psychologically intense record.

  Delivering an unapologetically fierce experience, Imperishable was formed as an outlet for raw, unfiltered aggression outside their legacy bands. This first full-length is a relentless display of old-school ethos and modern wrath. Eschewing over-polished production, the album plunges listeners into visceral, analog brutality. The title of this record is based on the revelation of what true purity is. Lyrically, the album ranges from topics of religion, health, personal struggles, and sacrifice. Imperishable welcomes interpretation, mirroring their approach to songwriting as collaborative, ever-evolving, and instinctively intense.

  "First of all, we're thrilled to be releasing Revelation In Purity on Everlasting Spew Records. They're a well-respected and renowned underground label that aligns with our musical standards and vision. It's an honor. This album started with just a few ideas between Alex and I, and has now taken on a life of its own, and we're damn proud of what we've achieved here. It represents where we were at the time. Musically and otherwise. The pandemic, the birth of my son, the loss of immediate family, etc, it's all in there. It's an honest record. Even the recording itself has no quantizing or samples on the drums. Minimal edits across the board. We wanted it to sound good, but not over-polished. A lot of that is in capturing the performance. So, you might not hear every note perfectly, but the conviction is there, and that's what matters," says Brian Kingsland.

  “God of the Tribes”, the highly anticipated new full-length from Kratornas, will be available worldwide through Grathila Records as of this Friday, August 22nd. Before its official release, the full stream album premiere can be checked out on Decibel Magazine HERE.

  This landmark release represents the most significant evolution yet for the pioneering one-man extreme metal project, originally founded in the Philippines and now residing in Saskatoon, Canada.

  Breaking from the hyper-fast brutality that defined earlier Kratornas releases, “God of the Tribes”, mastered by Dan Swanö (Dissection, Bloodbath, Marduk, Incantation), showcases a more methodical approach, focusing on atmosphere, tension, and ritualistic elements. The album introduces previously unexplored instrumentation, including 7-string guitars for L/R channels and 6-string fretless bass, moving away from blast beats and heavily distorted guitars toward a more nuanced sonic palette. Kratornas comments:

  “This album isn’t about being ‘advanced’ or ‘innovative’. It’s a return to roots, distilled into something raw and real. I’ve had firsthand experience with this kind of ‘indigenous music’. I was one of the drummers at festivals from fifth grade through my first year of high school. I didn’t copy those rhythms, but wrote my own, taking that foundation and fusing it with Kratornas. This album is the most natural and honest album I've ever done.”

  The lyrics on “God of the Tribes” draw from the apocalyptic themes that have defined Kratornas since 1999, when the project shifted from its early Satanic themes to ‘doomsday predictions’. The album incorporates ritualistic chants throughout, with the creator noting that ‘the words are a bit ‘dangerous’ to chant along’.

Lyrically and musically, it’s a psychedelic futurist journey, equal parts brutal and introspective. TJTJ's release plans for the EPs will be Fall 2025 "Primitive Minds", early 2026 "Medieval Institutions", and mid-2026 "Godlike Technologies".   Italian extreme metal project IN LIMINE presents “Unfollow”, the long-awaited first single from the upcoming debut album "Inveteratus", set for release in October 2025. With its blend of circular, infectious riffs, ferocious grooves, and unexpectedly melodic vocals, “Unfollow” encapsulates the dynamic contrasts that define IN LIMINE’s sound, a dense, abrasive, and yet surprisingly accessible approach that draws from thrash, death metal, metalcore, and melancholic melodic passages.

  Led by multi-instrumentalist and composer Matteo Galimberti (ex-Cripple Bastards), IN LIMINE was conceived as a studio project driven by deep personal expression and conceptual depth. “Unfollow” introduces listeners to a dystopian world in decline, echoing the broader themes of "Inveteratus" - a term that once meant endurance but now suggests a hardened, irredeemable state. Through its lyrics and sound, the song reflects on moral decay and the loss of critical awareness in a hyper-connected society addicted to conformity and consumerism.

  Featuring throughout the entire album, George Kollias (Nile) delivers blistering yet nuanced drumming that pushes each track far beyond genre conventions, while Laur Lindmäe (Pridian) brings a gripping vocal performance whose wide range adds contrast and emotional impact.

  Recorded across multiple sessions between 2022 and 2024, "Inveteratus" was produced with meticulous attention to detail. All guitars and bass were recorded by Matteo Galimberti and later reamped at Domination Studio by Simone Mularoni, who also handled the mixing and mastering in July 2024. The result is a finely balanced sonic landscape: raw yet articulate, violent yet conceptually refined.

  Thematically, the album explores the cyclical nature of time, transformation, and cultural decline through a symbolic and visual lens. From Greek deities like Kairòs and Kronos to fractured sundials and crumbling clocks, every element - both sonic and visual - contributes to a broader meditation on time, change, and the failure to evolve.

  IN LIMINE’s debut is as thoughtful as it is visceral — a work for fans who seek more than just sonic aggression. For admirers of Death, Slayer, Morbid Angel, and Lamb of God, “Unfollow” is a compelling introduction to a band that refuses to follow trends and instead crafts its threshold.
