• SPHERES Announces New Album "Shadows of Despair" with Progressively Extreme Single "Underworld"

  Paris' SPHERES have an invitation to a spiritual journey and dystopian dimension with the release of their new single "Underworld". This is the first feast of new music since releasing their 2022 sophomore album "Helios". The new track, recorded and mixed by Chris Edrich (Devin Townsend, Tesseract, Leprous), is a preview of their third full-length "Shadows of Despair," set for release in October 2025.

  Just like the world we live in, SPHERES' sound is becoming increasingly extreme, and their new song "Underworld" asks the question: can we evolve without destroying ourselves? We don't need to save the planet. The Earth has undergone several mass extinctions and will remain alive until our star, the sun, dies out. Humanity is less certain.

  With "Underworld," listeners will be struck by the multitude of contrasts and textures that inhabit SPHERES' music: From sharp riffs to ethereal melodies, from clean singing to growls and screams, the atmosphere oscillates between dream and frenzy. Everything is designed to push the listener’s boundaries and invite them to take part in this expedition.

• RED CAIN Drops New Single "FWAB" (Fire, Water, Air, Blood) Ahead of Hyperspace Metal Fest Performance!

  Set to perform at this year's Hyperspace Metal Festival in Vancouver, BC on April 10th, power prog storytellers RED CAIN are unveiling their new single "FWAB" (Fire Water, Air, Blood). With its heavy balalaika breakdown, downtuned heavy riffs, and soaring harmonized choruses among atmospheric industrial synth backing, "FWAB" hits hard and never lets go - a primeval ritual chant in front of cold stone, on a frozen steppe, among howling winds.

  The band explains the story of the track in further detail:

  "In the frozen Eastern European steppes, there stood a fell ancient god. Every ill word fed him, and every ill deed made him more potent. For millennia, he grew strong through kingship over mortal ill will, suffering, and pride, until his nourishment took a new form, unable to feed or strengthen. Without nourishment, the god was powerless, and without power, he slept. After millennia, fed full by ill words and ill deeds, searching for an awakening, the god demands the symbols of his power: Fire, Water, Air, Blood. Join the ritual sacrament of Chernobog. With this new release, the Slavic pagan ritual to call forth the "Black God" takes flight, asking the listener what they would be willing to change their fate."

  Red Cain, from Calgary, Canada, is a modern progressive metal project with Eastern European roots. They have been making waves since their first release in 2016, with award-winning music videos and concept albums “Kindred: Act I”, “Kindred: Act II,” and "NÄE'BLISS". The albums contained a ton of genre inspirations, from gothic rock to ambient electronica, power, black, and death metal, and were universally lauded for their inventiveness, variety, and strong conceptual content.   Canadian progressive thrash metal World on Alert, is sharing their latest music video for the track "They Came From the Pleiades" featuring guitars from Alex Walsh and Mutank's Costa Skoulikas. Ranging from Exodus sounding riffs, to proggy Tool and Dream Theater themes, this is a heavy instrumental.

  "They Came From the Pleiades" is off World On Alert's debut self-titled EP released in June 2024. The EP was born out of the COVID pandemic, during which live shows were on hold. This led founder Gino LaPosta (CroMagnum), to create his passion project to explore diverse musical styles and express deeply personal themes along with recruiting talented musicians and friends from the Montreal, QC metal scene for a stellar lineup of guests that include Max Rex (CroMagnum), Justyn Vynn (Orchad), Costa Skoulikas (Mutank), Armen Apekian (Ashes of Eden), John Vincelli (Void Within) and Alex Walsh.

  "This is a very diverse album with many different styles from prog to thrash to even pop rock. The theme of this record is about standing up for yourself and fighting for what’s right, whether it is an illness or just internal demons.”

  Progressive metal duo Obsidian Skies from Boulder, Colorado, USA, announces the release of their new single “Unmade by the Ocean”, a symphonic journey through a post-apocalyptic underwater world. The single marks the first offering from their upcoming full-length album to be released in 2025. The comment on the track:

  “Unmade by the Ocean is heavy-hitting, rhythmic, and technically challenging, while still maintaining a very melodic core. With soaring solos on guitar, bass, and piano, it is a song with a unique and diverse sound.
