  Italian melodic death metal powerhouse Reality Grey has announced the upcoming release of their cover of Children of Bodom's iconic track “Hate Crew Deathroll”, scheduled to drop on April 8th, the birthday of the late Alexi Laiho. Children of Bodom was one of the most influential bands for Reality Grey, especially during their early days, and this cover is nothing short of a tribute. While they've developed their style over the years, they think fans will appreciate their return to a classic ‘old school/mid-2000s’ sound, which they still love. They comment on the cover:

  “This is our tribute to Alexi Laiho and Children of Bodom. “Hate Crew Deathroll” was a pivotal moment in our lives as musicians, as we had just started out as a band in 2003. We kept the song close to the original, which is something we usually won’t do; we like to add our own spin and mix things around. I think we succeeded in keeping the “fuck you” attitude of the original song.”

  Hailing from South Italy and formed in 2004, Reality Grey has established themselves as a formidable force in the Italian metal scene.   Montreal, Canada’s deathcore outfit Deadwood has unveiled their most harrowing work to date with “Heretic”, the lead single from their upcoming EP "Rituals of A Dying Light" slated for release later this year. The accompanying video plunges viewers into a nightmarish realm that perfectly complements the band's brutal, fast-paced sonic assault. The single's release coincides with Deadwood's upcoming Japan tour (dates listed below) alongside Humanity's Last Breath and DVRK, further cementing their place in the international extreme metal scene. The comment on the single and what the audience should expect:

  “This is the first song we’ve written for the next EP and one of the ones we’re most proud of: it’s fast, heavy, and technical. We are a very intense show with a very percussive and tight guitar sound. We have a lot of samples between the songs to create a horror movie atmosphere. The fans go back home with a slap in the face. Heretic represents our darkest material yet.”

  Canadian progressive thrash metal World on Alert, is sharing their latest music video for the track "They Came From the Pleiades" featuring guitars from Alex Walsh and Mutank's Costa Skoulikas. Ranging from Exodus sounding riffs, to proggy Tool and Dream Theater themes, this is a heavy instrumental.

  "They Came From the Pleiades" is off World On Alert's debut self-titled EP released in June 2024. The EP was born out of the COVID pandemic, during which live shows were on hold. This led founder Gino LaPosta (CroMagnum), to create his passion project to explore diverse musical styles and express deeply personal themes along with recruiting talented musicians and friends from the Montreal, QC metal scene for a stellar lineup of guests that include Max Rex (CroMagnum), Justyn Vynn (Orchad), Costa Skoulikas (Mutank), Armen Apekian (Ashes of Eden), John Vincelli (Void Within) and Alex Walsh.

  "This is a very diverse album with many different styles from prog to thrash to even pop rock. The theme of this record is about standing up for yourself and fighting for what’s right, whether it is an illness or just internal demons.”

  The EP cover, created by the multi-talented Max Rex, who lends his vocals to the record, features a striking depiction of a world on fire, perfectly encapsulating the intense and passionate nature of the music within. This visual representation sets the tone for an offering that is as visually arresting as it is sonically diverse. It is recommended for fans of Tool, Fates Warning, and Metallica.

  Progressive metal duo Obsidian Skies from Boulder, Colorado, USA, announces the release of their new single “Unmade by the Ocean”, a symphonic journey through a post-apocalyptic underwater world. The single marks the first offering from their upcoming full-length album to be released in 2025. The comment on the track:

  “Unmade by the Ocean is heavy-hitting, rhythmic, and technically challenging, while still maintaining a very melodic core.   Flourishing from a solo project shared on Soundcloud by Evan Jodrey (Guitar/Vocals), Halifax, Canada's SigSour has become a solid powerhouse trio bonded by Trey Gabriel (Bass/Vocals) and Quenny Stevens (Drums). The band is excited to announce the release of their first studio album entitled "Apathetic Generation," produced and mixed by Don Levandier (The Motorleague), due out later in 2025. The full-length follows their debut EP "Static" and Live Album "SigSour Live at Radstorm," both released in 2024.

  “Apathetic Generation” is a break the band needed to showcase all of what we are and can do. With each song telling a different story and having its unique vibe, we hope there's at least one song in the entire album that someone can relate to and head-bang to. We are super excited for our fans and people who have never heard of us to get the chance to hear something that we are very pleased to share," adds Jodrey.

  Melodic and catchy, with the music changing between punk, metal, and grunge, SigSour has become known in Canada's Maritimes as the band that keeps the energy crazy high, the crowd moving, and the eardrums bleeding. To preview what's to come from "Apathetic Generation", they are sharing the single "And It Goes", which was the first song tracked on the album. The song lyrically riffs between addiction and disingenuous people.

  Jodrey explains further:

  “The lyrics portray one’s life being mastered by addiction and constantly finding yourself in an endless cycle of pain and confusion. The release from all the pain is in the chorus, searching for answers amidst the struggle.”
