  Canada’s BornBroken recently released their third album “Am I Invisible” this past September and to keep the momentum up, they are now releasing the music video for the title track directed by Chris Kells of The Agonist. This pummeling display of death and thrash metal complements the visceral and provocative lyrics the band members work hard to craft. They share their thoughts:

  “We wanted to use our music to call for unity and empathy. This album is not just a collection of songs; it’s a message, a call to action for anyone who feels unheard or unseen. We’ve always aimed to create music that tells a story, and ‘Am I Invisible’ is our most ambitious story yet. The themes of invisibility, isolation, and resilience are universal, and we wanted to convey them through powerful lyrics and compelling music.”

  For BornBroken, each track brings out different emotions, from the stress and monotony captured in “7 Mondays” to the introspective nature of “Will You Remember”.   Narcotic Wasteland, fronted by ex-Nile guitarist/vocalist Dallas Toler-Wade along with drummer Joseph Howard (Fields of Elysium), Neuromorphic) and bassist Kenji Tsunami (Ontogeny), will be hitting the road with Long Island, NY old school death metallers Pyrexia for the "Cemetery Slam Tour" from November 15th to 23rd. Narcotic Wasteland will also perform at this year's SwarmFest in Tampa Bay, FL following the tour (dates listed below).

  In additional news, the trio unveiled their new music video for the single "Barbarian" this past September and will be featured on their forthcoming album "Digital Cordyceps" out on Megaforce Records (release date TBD) to follow their 2017 breakout sophomore album "Delirium Tremens".

  "For me, Barbarian is a prime example of me doing the thing I love and that defines me the most. Continuously striving to improve my craft as a musician and a songwriter. But also the overall message of this song. Live!!! Be free!!! Find your own path!!! Question everything!!! And also we don't need politicians or religion to shape our moral centers. In fact, It seems they distort the truth every chance they get. This whole album cycle has seemed to have this recurring theme about the narcissistic oligarchy that we have all fallen victim to.   Fans of hard-hitting melodic death metal are in for a treat as Germany's Mindreaper gears up to premiere their latest music video “The God I Am”. This visual spectacle serves as a powerful prelude to their highly anticipated album “Withering Shine (...Into Oblivion)” set to drop on December 2nd, 2024 via Death Age Records.

  “Withering Shine (...Into Oblivion)” stands as Mindreaper's magnum opus, seamlessly blending traditional elements with modern symphonic touches to create a unique sonic landscape. The album promises to be a collection of eternal hymns, each track a testament to the band's musical prowess and emotional depth.

  Mindreaper takes listeners on a haunting journey through the echoes of past existences, confronting themes of transience and irrelevance.   Emerging metal act Heteromorphic Zoo, from Victoria, BC, Canada, is set to captivate audiences with their debut EP “New World”, produced by Chris Wiseman (Shadow of Intent, Currents) plus mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy). Coinciding with the EP launch, the band has unveiled the music video for their single “Ritual of Fidelity”, which they comment on:

  “This song is about an ancient power awakening within a great tomb, filled with monsters. The leaders declare their loyalty (or fidelity) to the overlord. Musically, the actual “ritual of fidelity” takes place in the middle of the song. It’s a classical 3-voice fugue between the violin, lead guitar, and rhythm guitars + bass with a subject, tonal response, 2 counter subjects, and everything. Of course, it’s not a pure fugue since other instruments are also playing, but that’s the skeleton of it, and the callback to an old baroque form brings out the ritualistic nature of the song.”​

  “Ritual of Fidelity” has a memorable lead guitar melody during its chorus, chuggy yet melodic verse riffs, and an overall more neoclassical sound. The violin is fairly subdued and in the background until the moment of the ritual fugue, since that moment is meant to introduce it to the listener for the first time.

  Born from a desire to create “Worship Music for Monsters”, Heteromorphic Zoo's five-track EP showcases a diverse and extreme sound that pushes the boundaries of modern metal. Lyrically, "New World" tells the story of a grand alliance of monstrous beings invading a new realm, with perspectives shifting between the monsters, their overlord, and their enemies. The band's innovative approach combines groove and melody, intricate riffs, and powerful breakdowns, resulting in a sonic experience that defies easy categorization. They are recommended for fans of In Flames, Within the Ruins, and Ne Obliviscaris.
