• RED CAIN Drops New Single "FWAB" (Fire, Water, Air, Blood) Ahead of Hyperspace Metal Fest Performance!

  Set to perform at this year's Hyperspace Metal Festival in Vancouver, BC on April 10th, power prog storytellers RED CAIN are unveiling their new single "FWAB" (Fire Water, Air, Blood). With its heavy balalaika breakdown, downtuned heavy riffs, and soaring harmonized choruses among atmospheric industrial synth backing, "FWAB" hits hard and never lets go - a primeval ritual chant in front of cold stone, on a frozen steppe, among howling winds.

  The band explains the story of the track in further detail:

  "In the frozen Eastern European steppes, there stood a fell ancient god. Every ill word fed him, and every ill deed made him more potent. For millennia, he grew strong through kingship over mortal ill will, suffering, and pride, until his nourishment took a new form, unable to feed or strengthen. Without nourishment, the god was powerless, and without power, he slept. After millennia, fed full by ill words and ill deeds, searching for an awakening, the god demands the symbols of his power: Fire, Water, Air, Blood. Join the ritual sacrament of Chernobog. With this new release, the Slavic pagan ritual to call forth the "Black God" takes flight, asking the listener what they would be willing to change their fate."

  Red Cain, from Calgary, Canada, is a modern progressive metal project with Eastern European roots. They have been making waves since their first release in 2016, with award-winning music videos and concept albums “Kindred: Act I”, “Kindred: Act II,” and "NÄE'BLISS".   Italian melodic death metal powerhouse Reality Grey has announced the upcoming release of their cover of Children of Bodom's iconic track “Hate Crew Deathroll”, scheduled to drop on April 8th, the birthday of the late Alexi Laiho. Children of Bodom was one of the most influential bands for Reality Grey, especially during their early days, and this cover is nothing short of a tribute. While they've developed their style over the years, they think fans will appreciate their return to a classic ‘old school/mid-2000s’ sound, which they still love. They comment on the cover:

  “This is our tribute to Alexi Laiho and Children of Bodom. “Hate Crew Deathroll” was a pivotal moment in our lives as musicians, as we had just started out as a band in 2003. We kept the song close to the original, which is something we usually won’t do; we like to add our own spin and mix things around. I think we succeeded in keeping the “fuck you” attitude of the original song.”

  Montreal, Canada’s deathcore outfit Deadwood has unveiled their most harrowing work to date with “Heretic”, the lead single from their upcoming EP "Rituals of A Dying Light" slated for release later this year. The accompanying video plunges viewers into a nightmarish realm that perfectly complements the band's brutal, fast-paced sonic assault. The single's release coincides with Deadwood's upcoming Japan tour (dates listed below) alongside Humanity's Last Breath and DVRK, further cementing their place in the international extreme metal scene.   “This is the first song we’ve written for the next EP and one of the ones we’re most proud of: it’s fast, heavy, and technical. • SYMBIOTIC GROWTH Unleash Progressive Death Album "Beyond The Sleepless Aether"; Mixed and Mastered by Tom Maclean (Haken, Athemon, Brutta)

  Canadian progressive blackened death unit Symbiotic Growth unleashes their sophomore album "Beyond The Sleepless Aether," now available as of March 28th, 2025. Similar to the band's predecessor, their 2020 self-titled full-length, "Beyond The Sleepless Aether," is once again based in fiction and is lyrically conceptual, but dives more into thoughts and emotions of everyday life, and sometimes those thoughts are hard to deal with.

  "I feel like this time around, the sound is a bit darker and experimental, with more synth-heavy sounds and a melancholy atmosphere. The lyrics were very loosely inspired by a dream I (Aaron) had about the multiverse theory intertwined with some of my challenges of dealing with a sense of being and why we are all here," says Aaron Barriault (Vocals, Guitar, Bass).

  Progressive, experimental, foreboding, and emotional, every song has its own identity and its place within the album's story, taking its protagonist through the multiverse, placing him in places like dark wooded forests, wide open desert landscapes, and the unending cosmos.

  The full-length listening experience tackles strong topics of loneliness, a sense of being, self-hatred, and suicide. Some of these are blatant and easy to see, and others subtly, throughout the course of the album, lyrically and musically.

  "I think the fans who have heard our previous album may be a bit surprised; the sound of this album is a bit different; it's a little bit more experimental in its own way. Either way, we hope that fans enjoy what we've created. I feel like the listener may have feelings of uneasiness and wonder. An odd combination, but I feel like it's fitting.

  Mixed and mastered by Tom Maclean (Twelve Tone Studio, Haken, Athemon, Brutta), "Beyond The Sleepless Aether", features seven paryalzing sounds of technical metal created by the Sudbury, ON recording line up of Aaron Barriault (Vocals, Guitar, Bass), Devin Mcqueen (Vocals, Guitar), and Dan Favot (Drums)(ex-Wolven Ancestry, ex-Fractal Generator). The artwork was created by Erskine Designs and shows an entity standing at the foot of what the band likes to think of as Azathoth.

  "The album doesn't touch on any Lovecraftian mythos (maybe a bit in The Sleepless Void), but the lore behind Azathoth, that we are all in his dream and once he wakes everything will cease to be, is very fitting to the album lyrically," adds Barriault.
