I was watching Star Wars (Rebels) when something suddenly hit me, like a sharp headache. I felt compelled to grab the bass and start playing a riff that had been stuck in my head.
It wasn’t anything overly complicated, but it had to have that distinctive hanging beat reminiscent of old Slayer songs from their album “South of Heaven.” That’s how it began, and the rest was just the pure, unadulterated feeling of the beat.
When I showed it to Sr. Diaz, he said that I had listened to it repeatedly for a few days before waking up with the story in my head.
