ICE NINE KILLS have announced A Very Vicious Christmas, an eight-track EP of Christmas classics recorded for “Terror Tram starring Art the Clown” at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights. Frontman Spencer Charnas explained the assignment in the announcement supplied by Cosa Nostra PR.
“When tasked with creating a musical accompaniment for Art the Clown’s assault on the Terror Tram, we immediately understood the assignment. Art loves Christmas,” Charnas said.
The collection includes versions of “Carol of the Bells,” “Jingle Bells” and “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” Its closing two entries present “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies” in full-band and orchestral versions. The announcement describes the material as the band’s horror-themed adaptations of familiar Christmas songs.
Charnas also discussed the altered lyrics and the involvement of a children’s choir: “With lyrics like ‘oh what fun it is to die in a one hearse open slay’ and ‘he’ll grind your limbs like sausage meat,’ we weren’t sure we’d find a children’s choir whose parents would approve, but thankfully the spirit of the season prevailed.”
In the same statement, Charnas thanked Terrifier writer and director Damien Leone, producer Phil Falcone and their team for inviting the band to participate. The EP’s connection to Art the Clown follows ICE NINE KILLS’ “A Work of Art,” their official song from Terrifier 3. The announcement identifies David Howard Thornton, who plays Art, as appearing in that song’s music video.
The announced eight-track sequence is:
- Carol of the Bells
- Jingle Bells
- We Wish You A Merry Christmas
- O Christmas Tree
- Joy to the World
- The Twelve Days of Christmas
- Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies (Full Band Version)
- Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies (Orchestral Version)
Led by Charnas, ICE NINE KILLS combine extreme metal with melody. Their supplied background identifies The Silver Scream and The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood among the band’s albums, alongside a wider body of cinematic music videos and horror-related projects.
