WITCHGÖAT have shared the title track from their third album, Serpent Hordes, through Personal Records’ Bandcamp. The announcement sets December 4 for the international CD release through Personal Records, while Morbid Skull Records will handle the cassette edition.
Recorded in 2025, the album follows a reassessment of the band’s musical direction in 2024. According to the announcement, WITCHGÖAT sought to bring together elements of their previous recordings while developing their songwriting, giving greater attention to guitar solos and incorporating traditional speed metal influences. The announcement also presents the release as marking the band’s tenth anniversary.
That approach follows Altars of Necromancy, which the band recorded in 2022 and released through Morbid Skull Records in late 2023. The supplied account describes that record as a move toward pure black metal in both composition and production. For Serpent Hordes, the press material places the music alongside Scandinavian reference points including Swordmaster, Dissection and Lord Belial, while also drawing a comparison with KREATOR’s Pleasure to Kill era.
The project began taking shape in the first half of 2016, when guitarist P. Scyther started writing material for a new band after participating in projects within the Salvadoran scene since the early 1990s. His initial aim was to combine 1980s South American and European thrash with the melodies of Scandinavian blackened death metal and black metal. M. Miasma joined the project and contributed its first occult-themed lyrics. The two musicians each supplied one word for the band’s name.
In early 2017, M. Miasma recruited bassist C. Fog, and P. Scyther brought in drummer E. Driller. Rehearsals and further writing led to the recording of the Umbra Regit demo in early 2018, followed shortly afterward by the debut album, Egregors of the Black Faith. Morbid Skull Records released both recordings.
The current announcement also reveals the cover and ten-song track list for Serpent Hordes. The title track appears third, between “Ophidian Will” and “Lesser Shadows,” with an intro and outro framing the album.
