Meg Mills guests on the new CRO-MAGS recording of ‘It's The Limit (2026)’, released alongside a lyric video. The track appears on The Age of Quarrel: 40 Years of Quarrel, the band's re-recording project arriving November 13 through BLKIIBLK.

For Mills, playing on the song connects directly to the record that prompted her to start making music. Describing the opportunity, the guitarist said: ‘(This is)…the greatest honor that could ever have been bestowed upon this NYHC fan. Wouldn’t have ever started a band without this record…’

The New York hardcore band is led by founding bassist and vocalist Harley Flanagan, who took on frontman duties beginning with 1989's Best Wishes. The new album revisits the material from 1986's The Age of Quarrel, with ‘Everybody's Gonna Die’ from the 1985 demo era added to its track list.

Alongside Flanagan, the recording brings together original The Age of Quarrel guitarist Doug Holland, former CRO-MAGS and Suicidal Tendencies guitarist Rocky George, Mills, Zach Blair and Arthur Rizk. Current band members Dominic Dibenedetto and Dave Sharpe also participate. Greyson Nekrutman plays drums on every track, while Rizk produced and mixed the album.

The project began during the making of the Wired for Chaos documentary. Several songs needed to be recorded again for its soundtrack because the original recordings could not be licensed. That work led Flanagan to re-record the rest of the album, including ‘Hard Times,’ ‘World Peace’ and ‘Malfunction.’

The announcement also outlines the financial history behind the decision. According to the supplied statement, none of the musicians who played on the original The Age of Quarrel received payment or an accounting of its sales. Flanagan had spent years trying to assemble the original lineup to re-record the album and reclaim rights to both The Age of Quarrel and Best Wishes through the Copyright Reversion Act, but could not bring everyone together before that window closed.

For this recording, he assembled friends, current bandmates and musicians from other bands. The announcement states that the songwriters will receive payment through ASCAP and BMI, with the remaining proceeds going to charity. It presents the album as Flanagan's effort to honor the songs, their creators and their audience while putting the history surrounding the original record behind him.

CRO-MAGS began in 1981, when Flanagan was 14 and playing drums in The Stimulators. By 1982/83, he had recorded four early demo songs, writing and playing the music himself. Those recordings provided a blueprint for the material that followed.

In 1985, Flanagan recorded the Age of Quarrel demo alongside guitarist Parris Mayhew, vocalist John Joseph McGowan and drummer Mackie Jayson. The full-length followed in 1986, with Doug Holland of Kraut joining on second guitar. Across subsequent lineup changes, the band's history includes six studio albums beyond the original demos and more than four decades of worldwide touring.
