“Shadow Spell” is the new single by Italian symphonic death metal band NEFASTIS, out January 7th, 2026 on all digital platforms via Rockshots Records.
The track marks the opening chapter of Shadows At The Light Of Dawn, the upcoming album scheduled for release on March 6th, 2026. Conceived as a four-act concept album, the record is designed as a continuous and immersive listening experience.
Following an instrumental introduction, “Shadow Spell” immediately sets the emotional and narrative tone of the album, plunging the listener into a post-apocalyptic scenario shaped by loss, anguish and spiritual disorientation.
Musically, the song showcases NEFASTIS’ evolved sound, blending aggressive death metal foundations with layered orchestral arrangements, progressive structures and haunting melodic themes. Intense piano passages and sweeping symphonic textures coexist with sharp riffs, dynamic drumming and commanding vocals, creating a dark, cinematic and story-driven atmosphere.
Lyrically, “Shadow Spell” tells the story of survivors in the aftermath of a nuclear catastrophe, accompanied by restless spirits haunting the devastated world around them. This dual presence, both physical and spectral, reinforces the album’s overarching themes of extinction, memory and decay.
