IATT close Etheric Realms of the Night video series with “Quietus”

video still

The video for "Quietus" completes IATT's video releases for Etheric Realms of the Night. The Philadelphia progressive extreme metal band's latest album is out now through Black Lion Records, with a companion full-length film available on ThunderFlix. Its visual narrative takes the form of a modern Greek tragedy.

"Quietus" focuses on mounting inner turmoil within the album's larger story. The protagonist is caught between the tangible world and the dream realm; her search for refuge from waking life ultimately leads to perpetual sleep and death. The announcement describes the album's broader trajectory as a passage from surrender to transformation.

The song pairs that subject with diminished tones, discordant piano and ethereal orchestration. In the announcement's description, those elements establish a bittersweet, dreamlike atmosphere, while heavy rhythms and harsh vocals suggest a sinister presence beneath it.

The film and video series continue IATT's practice of extending musical narratives into interconnected visual pieces. Their conceptual approach brings together sound, story and imagery, using recurring musical themes, symbolic instrumentation and deliberate pacing to explore psychological and philosophical subjects.

Formed in 2008, IATT combine blackened aggression and technical playing with cinematic atmosphere. Intricate guitars, dynamic rhythms and orchestral textures underpin material concerned with consciousness, identity and the relationship between reality and inner worlds.

Earlier records Nomenclature and Magnum Opus also feature the band's combination of jazz-influenced phrasing, classical-inspired orchestration, atmospheric passages and extreme metal riffing. That background provides context for the piano and orchestral elements described in "Quietus."

IATT's lineup consists of Jay Briscoe on bass and vocals, Joe Cantamessa on lead guitar, Alec Pezzano on rhythm guitar and orchestral arrangements, and Paul Cole on percussion.
