The lyric video for NECROFAGORE’s “Horrible Shapes in the Astral Trance” introduces a personal subject behind the Lima death metal band’s forthcoming album, Where the Shadows Spread Death and Desolation. The song draws on one member’s experiences with sleep paralysis.
According to the announcement, those experiences were frightening enough that the member sometimes feared falling asleep. He subsequently began practicing astral projection and learned to control it. The announcement does not identify which member inspired the song.
Where the Shadows Spread Death and Desolation is due November 27 through Fetzner Death Records/Thrashirts. Preorders are available on CD and cassette through the Fetzner Death Records shop, with an additional preorder destination on the label’s Bandcamp.
Carlos Medina recorded the album at Lowe Studios and handled mixing and mastering at Sound of Perseverance Studios. The cover features an original drawing by Camile Brevo, with design and colors by Jonathan Espinoza (Cobra). The supplied band photography is credited to Ricardo Rodriguez Muro.
Alexander Castañeda, also known as Nun’sFucker, founded NECROFAGORE in Lima, Peru, in 2007. His aim was to create death metal inspired by Dismember, Entombed, Hypocrisy, Grave and God Macabre.
The lineup consists of Alexander Nun'sFucker on guitar and vocals, Swarm on guitar, Cobra on bass and Necromotor on drums.
The band’s earlier releases include the 2010 demo Slow Rotting, the full-length albums Macabre Finding (2013) and Into the Gloom of the Buried Valley (2020), and the 2022 single “Freedom upon Centuries of Suffering.” The forthcoming album’s tracklist includes “Freedom Upon Centuries of Suffering” as a bonus track.
