A long time in waiting, this first full-length features ten tracks of heavy, raw, progressive, death and avant-garde thinking metal. Lyrically, the record explores Mythology from various places along with tying tales and emotions together. Fans can expect seasonal singles from Frogg going forward as they already have plans for follow-up singles to come real soon after the album's release.

FROGG’s main ambition is to hit the live circuit with a perfected performance and its brand-new line-up. With performance in mind, FROGG has been relentlessly rehearsing new original material and old, to deliver an authentic live experience.

Committed to technical excellence and progressive innovation, Frogg is recommended for fans of weird and wild, and fans who appreciate bands such as Protest The Hero, Between The Buried And Me, Zenith Passage, Unexpect, and Obscura.

Double Experience (L-R - Ian Nichols - Vocals and Bass, Brock Tinsley - Guitar) - Photo by Curtis Perry

In 2020, the Ottawa rock duo Double Experience took everything they knew about music - thousands of international concerts, presenting at industry conferences, and writing songs inspired by video games and film - and channeled their process into a series of livestreams. The result? A crowdfunded album - consisting largely of spontaneous suggestions from Twitch users - called “Undefeated” released in May 2024 via their indie label Colfax Music Ltd.. Nearly a year after its release, Double Experience’s modern rock opus is now nominated for a 2025 Ottawa Capital Music Award for Album of the Year.

"WE’RE NOMINATED: “Undefeated” is up for “Album of the Year”. This is a huge honour, especially considering the nature in which this album was created via our Twitch channel." adds the band.

Double Experience are nominated alongside the following artists listed below. More info on 2025 nominees can be found at at https://ottawamic.com/cma

Album of the Year | Album de l'année *Public vote | Vote du public

By taking influence from Coheed and Cambria, Weezer and Palaye Royale, Double Experience bounce between sounds in a quest to compose music as diverse as an arcade gallery. In doing so, Double Experience have bonded with a passionate global fan-base with their undeniable live prowess amounting to nearly 1000 concerts across 18 countries, opening for all manner of acts, from Badflower to Danko Jones, from JJ Wilde to Galactic Empire.

By day, mild-mannered band members Ian Nichols (vocals, bass) and Brock Tinsley (guitar) deliver band-oriented workshops and panels at conferences, conventions and festivals (IndieWeek, MAGFest, Ottawa ComicCon), teaching up-and-coming creatives how to take control of their own destiny in a similar way as the duo’s musical alter-ego. The band have cowritten songs with Jayson DeZuzio (Imagine Dragons) and in 2016, their Destiny-themed anthem “The Glimmer Shot” caught the attention of the game's developers at Bungie.

Their fourth studio album "Underneath" (released May 2024 via Colfax Music Ltd.) was inspired by the fans for the fans all through live streaming on Twitch and has all things nerdy and is all about perseverance.

"Ever since writing songs on Twitch, our fans have a day-one connection with the music. No matter how weird or strange the goal might seem, our band is living proof that you can really make a breakthrough if you celebrate what makes you weird or strange, not shy away from it." comments Double Experience.

"Undefeated" is available on all digital platforms - https://linktr.ee/2xxp

Hosted on July 11th and 12th in Armstrong, BC at the Hassen Arena, this year's two days of moshing, headbanging, and camping is a very special one as festival council members comment:

"The band council worked hard on this year's lineup. I am so excited to have the Browning back. They were amazing on stage. I have been wanting to see Born of Osiris play live for years. I love them, and now I get to see them in my own little town." - Heather Valstar, Vice President of West Metal Entertainment Society

"I'm really excited about the diversity of this year's line-up. The selection team has really put in the work. There's sure to be something for everyone: a great mix of trusted favorites and new additions to your playlist for the rest of the year!" - Kate Kutzner, President of West Metal Entertainment Society

"This year's festival is a work of art! I can't believe we are on the 15th year already. Time flies when you're setting up a festival full of crushing riffs, soaring vocals and down right nasty beats. Life rules, bring on the summer!" - Festival Co-Founder / General Manager - Jessie Valstar.

Headlining opening night, Friday, July 11th, Denver thrashers HAVOK are no strangers to the mosh pits, these veterans have unleashed five studio albums – Burn (2009), Time Is Up (2011), Unnatural Selection (2013), Conformicide (2017), V (2020) – and recently surprised fans this past November with the EP "New Eyes".

Also supporting the Friday night stage, the Pacific Northwest's Glyph (ft. members from Gatekeeper, Greyhawk, Hjelvik), which is not just a heavy metal band, they are a crew of intergalactic mercenaries escaping a dying planet in their spaceship, the VSS Dragonlord. Clearly, Glyph isn’t just writing songs, they’re building worlds and they bring it forth in their latest album "Honor, Power, Glory" released in March 2024.

Another highlight for Friday is the screaming heavy metal from Calgary's speed demons Riot City, who bring forth their steel, spikes and leather! A youthful band that represent the new face of Canadian metal. An amalgam of ripping and hot heavy metal, created in pure and youthful madness, they're bullet belts feature two full lengths "Electric Elite" (2022), "Burn The Night" (2019) and their latest live album "Live in Newcastle" (2023).

Saturday, July 12th will be headlined by international tour de force, progressive deathcore titans, Chicago's BORN OF OSIRIS. The group is signed to Sumerian Records and has released seven full lengths and two EPs. Their album, A Higher Place, reached number 73 on the Billboard 200. Their second full-length album, The Discovery, debuted at 87 on the Billboard 200. The band unveiled their latest single "In Desolation" this past August.

Also featured on Saturday is AMF alumni Kansas City's THE BROWNING who will be unleashing their unique eclectic blend of electronicore and deathcore. This past November, they released their sixth album "OMNI" that features 10 powerful tracks, including collaborations with Nik Nocturnal and the eponymous song with THE DEFECT.

Performing for the first time at AMF and adding to the nostalgia of Saturday night, VIRVUM, progressive / technical death metal all the way from Zürich, Switzerland that many in Canada have been waiting a long time to witness. There's no better place to see them along with the backdrop of the Canadian Rockies than at AMF 2025

Other to be treasured highlights of this year's fest not to miss is Montreal, QC up and coming thrashers DROWNING IN BLOOD, who are notorious pit mongrels and have made quite a name for themselves in Eastern Canada. Vancouver's GRAVEMASS, they might be a new band, but they feature some serious experienced metalheads from Zimmers Hole, West of Hell, The Golers, Punch Drunk, 3 Inches of Blood and Revocation. Switzerland's technical death/black metal Stortregn, they deliver a mix of charging riffs, blast beats and brutality that leaves the listener begging for more. The Defect is an electronic rock/metal project created by husband and wife duo – Jonny McBee (The Browning) and Moon McBee. Their debut album "Death X Destiny" was recently released on Feb 7th, 2025 under record label FiXT. From the Salish lands of Spokane, WA, Hísemtuks Hími•n introduce their Indigenous melodic black metal of hard hitting riffs, fast paced drumming and a lot of melody. • California Prog LUNAR Reflects On Painful Memories In “A Summer To Forget” Lyric Video Off New Album “Tempora Mutantur”

Following the recent release of their emotionally charged concept album “Tempora Mutantur” this past January, Sacramento, USA’s progressive metal collective Lunar unveils their lyric video for “A Summer To Forget”. The final visual installment in the album's narrative arc promises to be a poignant exploration of memory, loss, and the transformative power of musical storytelling, continuing the band's unique approach to progressive metal as a form of emotional expression. They comment on the track:

“The album starts off with a song that sounds a bit upbeat musically (heavy with the horns) despite a fairly dark lyrical theme: dealing with memories, how we sometimes forget what we wish we wouldn’t and cling on to what we wish we could forget.”

The track represents a powerful entry point into the album's complex exploration of temporal experiences and personal transformation. “A Summer To Forget” embodies the band's commitment to creating music that transcends traditional genre limitations, offering listeners a nuanced journey through personal pain and potential healing.

Continued and driven by drummer and primary songwriter Alex Bosson (Helion Prime, Planeswalker) after the passing of co-band founder Ryan Erwin in 2018, “Tempora Mutantur” is the result of a deeply personal and introspective creative process. The video continues the band's tradition of transforming personal struggles into universal musical experiences, inviting listeners to find their own emotional resonance within the intricate layers of sound and metaphorical storytelling. Fans of Tool, Porcupine Tree and Ayreon should be among the first to check out this track.

Watch and listen to the lyric video for “A Summer To Forget” via its premiere on Prog-Sphere HERE
