Philadelphia black metal band UNHOLY ALTAR have signed to BLKIIBLK Records, describing the agreement as the beginning of a new chapter. The announcement also lists a hometown show in December 2026 and festival appearances in May 2027.
UNHOLY ALTAR stated: “We are pleased to announce that UNHOLY ALTAR has joined forces with BLKIIBLK Records. A new chapter begins, and with it comes our darkest offering yet. The gates have opened.”
Formed in 2021, the quintet consists of Desecrator on vocals, Miserer and Eagle Devouring Snake on guitars, Cadaver on bass and Lucifer’s Rage on drums. Their releases include the 2024 LP Veil of Death! Shroud of Night and the 2025 EP A Sullen Dark Sky. The announcement describes a progression from early recordings rooted in second-wave black metal toward a greater emphasis on cadence and atmosphere, alongside the music’s raw aggression.
Mike Gitter, BLKIIBLK label head and Frontiers Label Group Global Head of A&R, offered his assessment of the signing: “UNHOLY ALTAR has quickly become one of the most exciting bands in modern black metal. They've put in the work in the underground, bringing together their metal roots with an atmosphere and aesthetic that's entirely their own. There's a real sense of danger to this band. They're evocative, unsettling and genuinely disturbing in all the right ways. Everything great black metal should be.”
UNHOLY ALTAR’s live history includes Decibel Metal & Beer Festival, Canada’s Prepare the Ground and shared stages with Worm, Mortician and Crypta. Their first European tour took place in 2025 and included Belgium’s Tumult Festival, where Myrkur also appeared.
The upcoming schedule begins at Philadelphia’s Kung Fu Necktie on December 4, 2026, with Kontusion, Hedonist and Kinetic Orbital Strike. In 2027, UNHOLY ALTAR are scheduled for Seattle’s Northwest Terror Fest, whose announced lineup also includes Napalm Death, Artificial Brain and Deadguy, followed by Maryland Deathfest XXII in Baltimore.
