SARCATOR call their sound death's rock, and their fourth studio album, The Ones We Follow, develops that approach through darker rock hooks and gothic western imagery. Announced for October 30, 2026 through Reigning Phoenix Music, the record retains the Swedish trio's death and blackened vocals while placing greater emphasis on stripped-down intensity and memorable songwriting.
The announcement frames the album's cinematic atmosphere through references to FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM and D-A-D, alongside GUNS N' ROSES and THE HELLACOPTERS. Its organic production is compared to METALLICA's Bob Rock era; that comparison describes the sound rather than a production credit.
The title track opens the album with a short, punk-driven attack. From there, “The Underground Streets” moves through melancholy into a darker rock momentum, while “You Gotta Possess Me” emphasizes forceful percussion, driving guitar riffs and leads, and distorted harsh vocals.
Atmosphere provides another thread across the record. “In Search of Oblivion” begins with ambient guitars before moving into heavier territory, and “Rotting Chapels” builds an eerie introduction through guitar leads and fast rhythms. “Bleeding Ages” brings together catchy riffs, groove rhythms and harsh vocals within the band's death's rock approach.
The latter stretch includes the fast-moving “Volatile Insight” and “Ain't Fit to Live,” whose description connects its brutality with imagery of the Deep South and sunlit plains. “Wasteland Strider” uses atmospheric instrumental textures and layered vocals, before “Wanderlust” closes the album with Americana riffs and blackened vocals.
SARCATOR released their first demo tape, Visions of Purgatory, through Redefining Darkness Records in 2019, when the members were between 14 and 20 years old. Their self-titled debut followed in 2020 and received a Best Rock/Metal Album nomination at Sweden's P3 Guld Awards two years after the demo.
The second album, Alkahest, arrived through Black Lion Records in 2022, followed by expanded live activity. Their third studio album, Swarming Angels & Flies, was released in early 2025 through Century Media Records. That period included touring with HELLRIPPER, 1349 and MIDNIGHT, as well as a Best Hard Rock/Metal Album nomination at Sweden's Grammis Awards. The other nominees were SABATON, THE HAUNTED, THE HELLACOPTERS and eventual winners GHOST.
