ENTHEOS – Chaney Crabb Discusses the Darkness Behind ‘Hell Is A Part Of Me’ Video

ENTHEOS has released the Malcolm Pugh-directed video for ‘Hell Is A Part Of Me,’ the opening track on Empty On The Inside. The full-length is out now through Metal Blade Records.

Vocalist Chaney Crabb describes the song as an acknowledgment of personal darkness and pain without allowing either to define a person. She also points to its riffs, choruses and breakdown as an expression of the band’s approach.

Crabb explains: ‘“Hell is A Part of Me” is about taking ownership of your own darkness. It’s about acknowledging those parts of yourself rather than pretending they don’t exist. So much of life can make people feel like they need to hide their darker side in order to be worthy of acceptance, but this song pushes against that idea. It’s about understanding that pain can be something that you acknowledge within yourself, but it doesn’t define who you are. For us this song feels like a statement and really encompasses the spirit of our band as a whole with catchy riffs, anthemic choruses and a heavy breakdown.’

The video follows previously released clips for ‘Golden Crown’ and ‘Undone,’ both also included on the album.

Empty On The Inside features Crabb on vocals and lyrics, Navene Koperweis on drums, guitar and synth, Michael Stancel on guitar and synth, and Scott Carstairs on guitar. Koperweis previously played with Animals As Leaders and Animosity; Stancel and Carstairs are also associated with Allegaeon and Fallujah, respectively. Crabb is the voice actress for Jill Valentine in Dead By Daylight.

Mark Lewis produced the album, with mastering by Justin Sturtz at Sterling Sound and artwork by Zac Shiffer. The announcement lists Lewis’s work with The Black Dahlia Murder, Fallujah and Whitechapel, and Shiffer’s work with Nine Inch Nails, Behemoth and Soundgarden.

The record is available digitally, on jewel-case CD and on LP in a gatefold jacket with an insert. US vinyl variants are Bloodlust Red, Grey with Black Splatter, and the Metal Injection-exclusive Neon Green + Yellow Marble. European variants are Green + Blue Marble, White with Red Splatter, and Neon Pink with Black Dust. Fluorescent Pink is a band-exclusive edition. New album merchandise is also available through the band’s store.
