BLOOD OF THE EARTH have released their new single, “The Constellation,” alongside a visualizer. The song reworks an instrumental composition from the trio’s debut EP and appears on the forthcoming five-track Beneath A Sky That Breaks, scheduled for independent release on October 23.

The addition of lyrics and vocals is central to the revised recording. In the announcement distributed by Secret Service Publicity, Katie Golden explains how returning to the composition changed its direction:

“'The Constellation' has transformed significantly since its original instrumental version on our first EP. Bringing lyrics and vocals into the song gave it a much deeper meaning and intensity, while the revisions allowed us to really explore what the song could become. It feels like we finally brought it to life in the way we always imagined.”

Jeff Golden points specifically to the combination of Katie’s voice and that of vocalist J. Costa: “'The Constellation' comes to life with atmosphere, haunting sounds, and heaviness from the vocals of both J Costa and Katie. They each bring something completely different to the song, and when those voices come together with the heaviness of the music, it gives the track a much stronger identity.”

The announcement describes the new version as moving between restrained passages and heavier sections. That approach sits within the band’s combination of doom, sludge, post-metal and industrial influences. For the forthcoming EP, the source also identifies an interplay between distortion, melody, heavy rhythms and electronics.

“The Constellation” follows two previously shared recordings from Beneath A Sky That Breaks: the original single “Petrichor” and a reinterpretation of MINISTRY’s “Filth Pig.” The EP was recorded with producer Ryan Boesch, whose credits cited in the announcement include MELVINS and WHORES.

BLOOD OF THE EARTH was founded by married musicians Jeff Golden, formerly of CROWBAR, and Katie Golden, formerly of THE CONVALESCENCE, alongside THY WILL BE DONE vocalist J. Costa. Their return to an earlier instrumental gives the new single a direct connection to the project’s initial material, with both Golden statements emphasizing what vocals brought to the revised song.

The five-song running order for Beneath A Sky That Breaks is “Beneath A Sky That Breaks,” “The Constellation,” “Barren Oasis,” “Petrichor” and “Filth Pig,” the closing MINISTRY cover. The announcement directs EP preorders to the band’s Bandcamp page.
