WHO ON EARTH examine gambling addiction in ‘Double or Nothing’ video

The belief that one more bet will undo the damage drives WHO ON EARTH's official video for “Double or Nothing.” The New Jersey hard rock band's song addresses gambling addiction, tracing obsession, false hope and the consequences for those around the gambler. Following an exclusive debut at NewNoiseMagazine.com, the video is now available worldwide.

Its subject is carried by heavy riffs, pounding rhythms and commanding vocals, with the accompanying video emphasizing addiction's human cost. WHO ON EARTH explain the track's inspiration:

“Double or Nothing is a graphic depiction of the ugliness of gambling addiction. The thrill of the bet takes pole position in the gambler's life and, like drugs and alcohol, can destroy the lives of the entire family. The insanity of it is that despite the wreckage, the gambler still thinks he will beat the odds… next time.”

“Double or Nothing” appears on the band's recently released second album, It Takes The Village. Mike Orlando (Category 7, Adrenaline Mob) produced the 12-track record, which combines classic heavy metal and modern hard rock with songwriting about real-world struggles. WHO ON EARTH cite Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Alice in Chains and Tool among their influences. The album also includes “Vigilance,” “Any Other Way,” “Shadows” and “Good Man Down,” each of which has an accompanying music video.

Founding members Coosh and Pete previously performed as MadHaus, building their experience through shows across the New York tri-state area. In 2020, the longtime collaborators moved from covers to original material, writing ten songs and entering Sonic Stomp Studio with Orlando. Drummer Joe D’Aqui joined them for the sessions that, despite pandemic delays, produced their debut album, Blame’, released in October 2022.

Guitarists Bruce Gatewood and Johnny James Barone subsequently joined the band. WHO ON EARTH's heavier version of Toto's “Hold the Line” became their most-streamed track. Howie Fallon joined on drums in 2024; Gatewood died later that year. The band continued in his memory, releasing the six-song, socially reflective Smoke & Mirrors EP in March 2025 before returning with It Takes The Village in 2026.

The current lineup comprises Coosh on vocals, Pete Rizzi on bass, Johnny James Barone on guitar and Howie Fallon on drums.
